    The Production Manager has a strategic role with the primary responsibility of planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget, while also providing direct oversight of the project-specific manufacturing team. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan: On Time, on Budget and On Quality. The Production Manager will create and execute project work plans to meet changing needs and requirements. Additionally, the Production Manager will manage the day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scope by practicing effective time management, execution, and leadership.

     

    This position also manages a team of skilled Welder/Fabricators and CNC Operators, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring adherence to fabrication schedules to meet company and client deadlines. This role also collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain, to drive process improvements, maintain inventory accuracy, and uphold safety and quality standards.

     

    This role requires strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate and collaborate with internal stakeholders, fostering a positive work environment that promotes team development, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

    Essential Functions / Responsibility:

    • Provide business and technical leadership necessary to ensure both manufacturing and the organization meet/exceed goals in delivering products on time, on budget, and on quality. Develop and manage specific goals and plans for the team to prioritize, organize, and execute each project.

    • Manage Team Leads in Assembly, Electrical, IT Integration, and Fabrication. Effectively manage and develop direct reports to ensure that all employees have the necessary tools the effectively complete their work. Oversee department scheduling and resource allocation to ensure optimum utilization of personnel and equipment.

    • Coordinate with other departments (Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, HR, etc.) to meet operational goals and ensure project completion. Develop a vision to drive team performance based upon production metrics and culture enhancement.

    • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Define project success criteria and disseminate to the stakeholders throughout the project’s life cycle.

    • Drive continuous improvement and total employee involvement in critical success areas by empowering leaders and employees to utilize Lean Manufacturing tools and processes. Obtain an in-depth understanding of technical manufacturing processes and ensure that teams are progressively developing technical expertise.

    • Manage the process of innovative change and project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans effectively. Develop strategies that allow the team to be nimble and responsive to short notice changes in the schedule.

    • Promote and ensure quality at all levels by collaborating with direct reports, enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.

    • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce production bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement across fabrication operations.

    • Be responsible for scheduling and estimating additions, modifications, and small projects.

    • Collaborate with the Engineering team to continuously evaluate and improve fabrication processes, focusing on enhancing build efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure that all fabricated products meet Nomad’s rigorous quality standards before shipment. Coordinate with Supply Chain Management to maintain inventory accuracy and ensure timely receipt of materials necessary for production.

    • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately. Conduct project debriefs and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.

    • Work closely with Human Resources as an integral part of the hiring process.

    • Ensure workplace safety and governance over general environmental concerns.

    • Take on other duties as required.

    Basic Knowledge Desired:

    • Knowledge and understanding of production management requirements such as specification creation, scheduling, financial analysis, resource allocation, and time management.

    • Understanding of business and technology (complexities of products, machinery, cost elements: direct and indirect labor, overhead, direct materials, expenses, etc.)

    • Demonstrate strong people management skills, ensuring clear communication, providing constructive feedback, and facilitating team collaboration. Ability to always lead by example. motivate, guide, develop, and direct employees as they work.

    • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

    • Strong mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of machines, tools, and their maintenance and repair. Knowledge and experience working with both Metric and Imperial measurement systems, including precise mathematical calculations.

    • Proficiency with CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

    • Demonstrate understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.

    Physical Demands:

    • Regular use of hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

    • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and crawling.

    • Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Assistance required for anything heavier than 50 pounds.

    • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors.

    Working Environment:

    • Partially environmentally controlled indoor area with temperatures fluctuating between 60°F and 100°F, typically maintained around 70°F.

    • Occasional outdoor work required.

    • Exposure to noise levels ranging from low to loud; safety hearing devices provided as needed.

    • Possible exposure to household and commercial chemicals; adherence to safety protocols outlined in Safety Data Sheets (SDS) required.

    • Mandatory wearing of OSHA-approved safety eyewear and closed-toed shoes at all times on the production floor.

    • Use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators or protective coveralls, may be necessary for specific tasks.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • BA / BS degree in Business, Industrial Technology / Engineering, Management, or related discipline strongly desired.

    • 4-6 years of direct work in a production management capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Demonstrated proficiency in Lean manufacturing principles including:

    o Experience implementing 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    o Knowledge of 8D (Eight Disciplines) problem-solving methodology and CAPA (Corrective Action/Preventive Action) processes.

    o Experience documenting root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions

     

    Understanding of quality management systems and compliance requirements.

     

    o Skill in developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure process improvements. Strong mathematical skills and the ability to perform accurate measurements.

    • Proven expertise in interpreting blueprints, specifications, and schematics.

    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly across all levels of the organization.

    • Leadership experience, including performance management, team development, and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.

    • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
