Actalent is currently seeking a skilled SCADA Engineer for a position in Midvale, UT. This person will be responsible for the successful completion of assigned projects and for maintaining and improving client relationships. These projects will involve SCADA, automation, and communications for utility and industrial/commercial clients, covering conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, and transmission and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

+ Design and configure network and communication paths for Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Human Machine Interface (HMIs), PLCs, and other SCADA system equipment.

+ Specify and design communication networks, ensuring data security and availability.

+ Develop basic specifications for communication paths using fiber optic, microwave, power line carrier, or radio technologies.

+ Travel to project sites for troubleshooting and commissioning of network and communication systems.

+ Develop, document, and implement logic and control schemes for remote and local operation of power system equipment.

+ Create programs for various platforms to implement control schemes.

+ Test and commission control schemes at project sites.

+ Prepare points lists for data transfer between control centers and controlled apparatus.

+ Assign and program data addressing and routing information.

+ Develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens.

+ Test and commission data transfer schemes at project sites.

Essential Skills

+ 5+ years of SCADA and automation engineering experience related to power utility at the transmission level.

+ Experience with SCADA systems in renewable projects such as wind farms and solar farms.

+ Experience with 34.5KV and higher.

+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an applicable degree.

+ Proficiency in working with Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), SEL RTAC, Human Machine Interface (HMIs), and PLC programming.

+ Electrical and automation expertise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or the ability to obtain it.

+ Experience with applicable network and communication protocols: DNP, Modbus, SEL Communication Protocol, IEC, TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet, as well as legacy utility protocols.

+ Experience with applicable logic and control platforms: SEL RTAC, NovaTech, GE-D20, PLCs, IEC, Lua, Python.

+ Proficiency in applicable software: Wonderware, Clearview, AcSELerator RTAC, NovaTech NCD/Inkscape, Visual Basic, OSIPI, Python scripting.

+ Demonstrated ability in integrity, initiative, self-sufficiency, communication, leadership, mentoring, business and commercial performance, troubleshooting, problem solving, interpersonal relations, and organization.

+ Experience in mentoring others and providing technical and commercial leadership in customer-focused engineering projects.

Work Environment

The position offers a hybrid work schedule, with the option of in-office or remote work based on the candidate's location. The office environment in Salt Lake City includes multiple discipline groups such as environmental and renewable groups, housing 40-50 people. Travel is minimal, up to 10%, depending on project scope and stage. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
