Job Description
The Project Manager II will lead and manage multiple research studies within the Endocrinology Department, with a primary focus on diabetes. The Project Manager II will be responsible for overseeing research operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining high-quality data standards, and leading staff development efforts. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative research environment.
Qualifications
+ Bachelors degree or greater preferred, or combination of applicable experience and education
+ 5+ years experience with Masters degree; 7+ years with Bachelors degree, of prior healthcare industry experience required, preferably in the areas of project management, change management, health care delivery re-design or integration, health policy reform.
+ Demonstrated leadership in managing complex research operations preferred
+ Prior experience in endocrinology or diabetes research desired but not required.
Responsibilities
Research Project Oversight:
• Manage all aspects of clinical research projects from start-up through close-out, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
• Lead the operational execution of ongoing studies, ensuring adherence to protocol, budget, and regulatory guidelines.
• Serve as a central liaison between study sponsors, research staff, coordinating centers, and participants.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and job aids to standardize project workflow and improve operational efficiency.
• Assist in writing and preparing manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations.
• Play a key role in data capture, data extraction and analysis
Data and Documentation Management:
• Ensure data quality, validation, and integrity across all research systems and studies
• Oversee data entry and resolve technical difficulties and discrepancies in documentation.
• Develop, maintain or implement procedures for data entry, data cleaning, documentation and other administrative tasks
• Maintains source documents and subject files in accordance with hospital procedures. Ensures accurate and complete compilation of subject data through chart reviews.
Staff Supervision and Team Development:
• Supervise clinical research coordinators and other research staff, including performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive training and education content related to the assigned areas.
• Lead efforts to build a cohesive, highly competent team through proactive coaching, mentoring, and feedback sessions.
• Identify training needs and ensure the professional development and retention of team members.
• Cultivate a culture of learning, flexibility, respect, and collaboration within the research team and broader clinical environment.
• Identify gaps in current workflows and recommend structural improvements to the overall research program design and implementation.
• Conduct team meetings and mock visits to ensure readiness for study initiation.
Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
• Prepare and submit grant applications, IRB/GCO documents, and study filings.
• Maintain source documentation and participant records according to institutional and regulatory requirements.
• Stay current on relevant clinical research regulations and emerging technologies.
• Monitor study visit schedules, documentation, and supplies, ensuring preparedness and compliance across all studies.
• Perform other related duties

Compensation Statement
Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $78000 - $138490.92 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
