Directional Drill Operator/ Heavy Equipment Operator
Pay:
30-35/hr
Description:
• Leading utilities contractor seeking skilled DB Operator/Locator for their local Minnesota team. This position will have voluntary lay offs in the winter. If a candidate still wants to work, there would be per diem travel opportunities in the Midwest. Summer hours worked get to 50-60 a week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operates Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground telecommunications cable conduit, including fiber optic cable
• Setup and cleanup of work site, including traffic and pedestrian control
• Reads utility locates and coordinating day lighting of these facilities
• Ensures all applicable permits and locates are complete and on site
• Operates construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications
• Level earth to final grade specifications
• Performs proper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment
• Confirm bore path with install foreman and drill operator (including walking the bore path)
• Ensure the drill head is in a good position at the exit pit to connect the product
Preferred:
• Class A CDL license (Air Brake, Combination certs)
Benefits:
• Will pay for Class A CDL if the candidate does not possess.

• Company vehicle offered to foreman and above.
• 80/day Poer diem if traveling
Work Environment:
• Monday - Friday | 7:00/8:00 am start (8–10-hour days)
• Meet at the shop in Eden Prairie off 65/494 or meet directly at the site.
• Must be good with OT: 5-15 hours a week
• Occasional out of town work, very minimal, will be back home Friday.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
