    Job Title: Breaker Technician/ Automotive Technician

    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced Breaker Technician to apply mechanical, electrical, and related knowledge to repair, rebuild, modify, and test low and medium voltage circuit breakers. This role involves working towards mastery of all objectives related to circuit breaker systems.

    Responsibilities

    + Systematically disassemble and reassemble circuit breakers and subassembly parts from an individual component level to a fully operational unit.

    + Evaluate, inspect, assess, and document damage, repairs, and maintenance required to repair, rebuild or modify circuit breakers and their components.

    + Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, AC and DC schematic diagrams, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, breaker control wiring diagrams, and trip curves.

    + Install and program custom retrofit trip unit kits per customer and manufacturer guidelines and specifications.

    + Perform diagnostic tests using high current, high potential, insulation resistance, and contact resistance test sets to determine the condition of equipment.

    + Prepare, clean, and recondition components using techniques such as sandblasting, polishing, painting, plating, and other methods.

    + Maintain personal work area in an organized manner to promote efficient workmanship.

    + Install optional control devices and control wiring using schematics and wiring diagrams.

    + Produce routine reports and record, compute, and process electrical test information in accordance with standard practices.

    + Provide customer on-site support for field service operations.

    + Maintain personal tools and perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by the supervisor.

    Essential Skills

    + Strong mechanical experience with electrical apparatus.

    + 3+ years of experience with electrical apparatus.

    + Ability to perform primary current injection, secondary current injection, insulation, contact resistance, and high potential tests.

    + Understanding of the operation, application, and care of test equipment; proper use of multimeter scales and ranges.

    + Ability to tear down, inspect, and rebuild with minimal assistance at least eight different breaker families (e.g., AK, DB, Magneblast, K-Line, LA, etc.).

    + Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    + Ability to perform math calculations using basic algebra and geometry.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High School/GED Diploma required.

    + 2-year technical school or job-related certifications are a plus.

    + Experience working on breakers, cars, or held mechanical roles in the military is advantageous.

    + Ability to work under pressure and remain calm during stressful situations.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.

    + Self-starter with the ability to make quick decisions.

    + Willingness to follow standard safety practices in performing job tasks.

    + History of reliability and dependability.

    + Ability to work overtime as required.

    + Physical ability to perform duties such as bending, lifting, carrying, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, or standing for prolonged periods.

    Work Environment

     

    Work in a shop or field environment, requiring travel. Typically, travel involves leaving on a Sunday and returning on a Friday, with hotels provided. Employees carpool in a company truck to job sites, with a fuel card program in place for convenience. Weekend travel may occasionally be required.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tucson, Arizona.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
