Job Title: Maintenance Planner
Job Description
We are seeking a Maintenance Planner who will play a crucial role in planning within our maintenance organization. The planner will directly affect the utilization of maintenance labor, craft utilization, and overall equipment availability. This role involves accurately planning complex jobs, ensuring required parts are available, and properly estimating labor hours required. The planner will establish planning meetings with production to ensure scheduling can be agreed upon and conducted without interruption in work assignments.
Responsibilities
+ Create safe work plans and pre-job safety analysis for all tasks.
+ Work with the Warehouse Supervisor to attain and stage parts for jobs prior to the job start date.
+ Utilize outside vendors when required to complete tasks.
+ Approve work requests and plans as priority dictates.
+ Gather relevant technical documentation such as drawings, schematics, specifications, spare parts lists from equipment histories, OEM manuals, and the Knowledgebase system.
+ Verify the availability of parts prior to scheduling the job.
+ Arrange for special tools and auxiliary equipment when required.
+ Plan work in Planning Status by accurately assigning estimated hours and material.
+ Maintain an organized and prioritized work order backlog to determine the next highest priority jobs to be planned next and maintain the Ready Backlog.
+ Ensure required parts to complete the work order are on hand at the time of work order starting.
+ Manage all work orders in the Ready status for readiness for Scheduler.
+ Enter requisitions for parts that are not on hand for active work orders.
+ Expedite parts as needed for equipment downtime emergencies.
+ Create new preventive maintenance (PM) procedures as required for input in CMMS system.
+ Verify PM changes or PM additions are updated and active in CMMS for planning.
+ Add items to the equipment Bill of Materials as discovered.
+ Conduct weekly planning meetings with Production to determine work order priorities, communicate work order status, and alter planned maintenance activities if necessary.
+ Evaluate non-emergency work requests, develop scope of work, and inspect job location to determine job requirements.
+ Estimate labor hours, skillsets, parts, materials, equipment, and special tools required to complete proactive jobs in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in maintenance with knowledge of maintenance systems like eAM Oracle, SAP, and/or Infor.
+ Combined experience of hands-on maintenance and maintenance planning/scheduling.
+ Proficient with many CMMS systems, Oracle eAM, SAP, and software such as Excel, Word, MS Office, and Outlook.
+ Excellent technical writing skills.
+ Ability to improve work order planning and scheduling effectiveness through the review process and use of maintenance metrics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with preventive maintenance, ERP, SAP, maintenance planning software, work orders, construction, production planning, and maintenance documentation.
+ Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Work Environment
This role is based in a metal recycling plant where a variety of materials including steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and more are processed. The facility is large, with most operations conducted in an open yard and some enclosed production equipment. The position is regularly exposed to all weather conditions and physical hazards such as noise, fumes, and dirt. Safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, and face shields are required to mitigate these risks. The workload can be unpredictable, and pressure can be substantial during peak times. Adaptability is essential as critical deadlines are common. The role involves handling multiple safety and maintenance issues and disturbances in workflow and irregularities in work schedule are expected intermittently.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
