Salary: $19 / Hour

The School Aide is a dedicated support professional who assists students requiring instructional, behavioral, and/or physical care. Working under the supervision of the special education department or a designated supervisor, the aide plays a key role in helping students succeed academically and socially, while also supporting their personal and therapeutic needs as directed by licensed professionals.

Key Responsibilities

+ Provide instructional support to students who need additional academic assistance by helping them understand lessons, complete assignments, and stay engaged in classroom activities. This support is delivered under the direction of a certified teacher or special education staff.

+ Assist in implementing behavioral strategies and interventions developed by educational or behavioral specialists. This includes helping students manage emotions, follow classroom rules, and develop positive social interactions.

+ Collaborate with supervising staff such as special education teachers, case managers, or designated supervisors to carry out individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure that each student’s unique learning and care needs are met.

+ Support students with personal care tasks, including hygiene, toileting, dressing, and feeding, when necessary. These duties are performed with sensitivity and respect for the student’s dignity and privacy.

+ Provide physical mobility assistance to students with physical disabilities or impairments. This may involve helping students move between classrooms, use mobility aids, or safely transfer from one position to another.

+ Deliver therapeutic care and support as directed by licensed professionals such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, or social workers. This may include assisting with therapeutic exercises or routines during the school da

Minimum Requirements:

+ Current CPR if applicable

+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

+ Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

+ Must be at least 18 years of age
