    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    This position will perform complex duties assigned for the training purposes during phases in District Two. Day-to-day supervision is provided by the assigned phase supervisors or their designee. Overall supervision is provided by the District Surveyor and Mapper.

     

    Location Surveying Phase: Performs technical surveying tasks of gradually increasing complexity in Field and Office Operations. Field work necessitates the need for a Class E Driver’s license.

     

    Right of Way Mapping Phase: Performs technical mapping tasks of gradually increasing complexity in the Mapping Department.

     

    Additional Areas of Interest: Review and gain general knowledge of areas related to the Surveying and Mapping Department, including the following departments: Office of Right of Way, Office of Design, Consultant Project Management, GIS (Program Management), and Planning and Environmental Office.

     

    Title and Documents Phase: Performs technical tasks including sample projects of gradually increasing complexity in the Title and Documents section of the Mapping Department.

     

    Property Management Phase: Performs technical tasks of gradually increasing complexity in the Property Management section of the Mapping Department.

    The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:

    + Knowledge of surveying and mapping concepts, terminology, principles and analytical techniques.

    Skills in:

    + Skilled and proficient in the use of computers.

    Ability to:

    + Ability to solve problems relating to surveying and mapping.

    + Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments and projects.

    + Ability to communicate effectively including technical information.

    + Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.

    + Ability to analyze and interpret land surveying data.

    + Ability to perform land surveying calculations.

    Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements:

    This position requires a Class E driver license.

    Other Job-Related Requirements:

    This position is required to respond before, during, and following emergency situations.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    A Bachelor of Science in Geomatics Degree from a university accredited ty the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), Equivalent accreditation as described in Chapter 472, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 5J-17, Florida Administrative Code, or a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline other than Geomatics, at an accredited college or university along with a Geomatics Certificate.

     

    This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:

     

    + three (3) or more moving violations in the past three (3) years that accumulate three (3) or more points per violation;

    + any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past three (3) years;

    + a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past three (3) years; and

    + a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction, in the past four (4) years.

     

    Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.
