This position will serve as the Communications Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for providing administrative support for Association Marketing and Information Technology; creating and managing social media (i.e. website, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.); coordinating marketing campaigns and marketing committee meetings; setting up and managing marketing campaigns; implementing the association marketing plan; setting up laptops; and onboarding new employees as it relates to IT.
The Communications Coordinator will also be responsible for marketing and communications for Taste NY at the North Country Welcome Center. Primary responsibilities include developing and coordinating social media campaigns on Facebook and Instagram for the North Country Welcome Center; organizing and overseeing tabling events in the local community; and assisting with the coordination of fundraising efforts in collaboration with local school districts to promote regional products. This position may occasionally open and close the store and perform duties as a cashier, store clerk, and utility clerk as needed.

POSITION DETAILS:
This position is a part-time non-exempt position, 32 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, NYS retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

Required Qualifications:
+ Associate Degree or Equivalent Education (GED/High School Diploma and one year of transferrable program/functional experience).
+ Experience relevant to the role of the position.
+ Valid NYS Driver License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
+ Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
+ Ability to work as a team.

Administrative Responsibilities:
Direction and Management - 35%
+ Provide moderately complex administrative tasks in planning for communication and marketing strategies for the Association and its programs, events and activities.
+ Assist in planning effective strategic external and internal communication efforts and marketing efforts to reach target audiences and meet program objectives.
+ Make recommendations to supervisor and/or Executive Director for strengthening and improving marketing plans.
+ Work directly with the Assistant Manager for HR and Operations to plan mass media efforts and utilize good marketing strategies to generate appropriate public image and messaging.
+ Assist in the planning of specialty events and activities for Taste NY programs.
+ Provide Supervisor with program related information to assist the budget development process.
+ Assist in monitoring program to ensure that marketings activities conform to policies, meet objectives of the association.
Coordination/Operation - 60%
Taste NY
+ Posting on social media at a minimum of five posts per week in relation to the TNY at the NCWC and following NYSDAM social media guidelines.
+ Manage any comments or messages sent to the TNY at the NCWC FB page.
+ Manage and connect content to an Instagram account from the NCWC FB page.
+ Run paid advertisements as needed and requested by the TNY management team.
+ Run a “likes” campaign to engage and get new followers once a quarter.
+ Seek out and coordinate with the Assistant market Manager to advertise any promotional events that are taking place at the NCWC or in the community in conjunction with TNY.
+ Coordinate Marketing Campaigns for Taste NY with assistance of the Market Manager.
+ Customer service – greets, assists and serves the needs of store customers.
+ Open/Close store and act in the capacity of a clerk and utility clerk as necessary.
+ Coordinate tabling events throughout the TNY season.
+ Assist in coordinating fundraisers with local school districts along with marketing these efforts.
+ Maintain the TNY monthly newsletter.
+ Follow NYSDAM guidelines for marketing and promotions throughout the year.
•Association, Marketing and IT
+ Maintain equipment, troubleshoot if necessary and call for repair as directed.
+ Managing social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube).
+ Coordinate marketing campaigns for the association and specific grants as requested.
+ Managing and updating the association website.
+ Maintain and implement association marketing plan.
+ Report monthly social media stats for federal reporting.
+ Assist with coordinating marketing committee meetings.
+ Serve as the association’s local IT contact.
+ Set up new laptops and onboard new employees.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
+ In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
+ Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Extension programs and other duties as assigned.

+ Support the association to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Be familiar and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
