Director, Project Engineering – Remote (United States)

This position is responsible for providing project leadership for Curia’s key capital investments in the Drug Substance and Drug Product network. The Director of Project Engineering is primarily responsible for managing the execution of capital projects to support Curia’s strategic capital initiatives.
These will include projects to expand and modernize the manufacturing infrastructure across the network. The incumbent will work to successfully execute projects in close collaboration with the other global and site functions.
The individual will also work in close collaboration with the site engineering function to provide guidance and oversite of the site-led capital projects. This position interfaces with Curia’s manufacturing plants and other departments within Curia’s network and reports to the Senior Director of Project Engineering.

Responsibilities
• Deliver key strategic capital investments by directly managing assigned major capital projects for the API and DP networks
• Manage global project engineering resources seconded to assigned capital projects
• Provide above site technical oversight to the API and Drug Product engineering teams in close concert with the site leadership teams using a matrix approach
• Assist in the maintenance of Curia’s long-range capital plan in alignment with the strategic plan and site master technical plans
• Develop the technical talents and capital project management expertise of Curia’s site-based engineering teams to deliver robust solutions and on-time delivery of Curia’s CDMO API and DP programs
• Provide functional leadership for assigned CDMO DS and DP programs ensuring timely execution in accordance with client-based project expectations and deliverables
• Strengthen Curia’s capital project management processes in conjunction with the Global Program Management office
• Provide functional expertise to deliver technical solutions for Curia’s site-based cost improvement programs via improvements in facility and utility infrastructure, including initiatives in improved reliability
• Provide solutions via Curia’s technical network to resolve issues challenging Curia’s ability to deliver finished goods at the appropriate levels of quality and efficiency
• Provide functional expertise for Curia’s internal site-to-site technical transfer initiatives requiring capital improvements and investment
• Incumbent will supervise engineering resources either directly or in a matrix approach as part of their job responsibilities
• 40% travel
Qualifications
• BS in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical or related Engineering Science
• Minimum 8 years' experience in Pharmaceutical Project Engineering or equivalent Engineering Project Management and/or Plant Engineering Management
• Experience managing major capital projects greater than $10M in total investment
• Expertise in capital project management, including PMP principles and key project control techniques
• Preferred working knowledge of key pharmaceutical systems including
o Formulation Processes Equipment
o Downstream Processes Equipment, including UF/DF and Chromatography
o Sterile Filling Processes
o Sterilization and Lyophilization Processes
o CIP Processes
o Critical Utility Systems (WFI, CS, Cleanroom Facilities, and HVAC)
• Demonstrated aptitude and attitude to become immersed in the resolution of technical challenges and technological advancements
• Proven project management, analytical, problem solving skills
• Strong knowledge of global pharmaceutical regulations
• Excellent relationship management, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to effectively manage and influence cross-functional teams
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and achieve significant, complex goals and objectives
• Demonstrated leadership with proven success in challenging the status quo
• Strong organizational and planning skills, as well as a high energy level and initiative
Pay Range:$152,000-$189,590/year.
Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
