    Custom Job Purpose:

    This position exists to assist the school principal in providing the vision and leadership necessary to develop and administer educational programs that optimize the human and material resources available. These programs will ensure implementation of learning processes for all students leading to enhanced student achievement within the context of providing a safe and successful school for students, staff, parents, and community in support of enhanced student learning.

     

    Essential Functions of this Job

    Accountable to:

    The building Principal, Regional Assistant Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Superintendent.

    Job description:

    We are looking for an outstanding leader, who is able to articulate the vision for the program and who will inspire others to strive to achieve stated outcomes. The successful candidate will be driven by a commitment to creating the best possible educational experience for program students.

    The Head of Program Will:

    + Develop the program as a catalyst for improving the outcomes for students and the community as a whole.

    + Be committed to supporting each student throughout their academic tenure.

    + Design and develop an outstanding, innovative, and creative curriculum comprised of high-quality vocational, artistic, and/or academic options while utilizing the latest technologies.

    + Develop in all students and staff versatile skills and attitudes required for lifelong learning in a rapidly changing world.

    + Serve as the program liaison between teachers, parents, and the community.

    + Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in all aspects of this position.

    Strategic Direction and Development:

    + Support the strategic vision, effective management, and operational efficiency of the academy.

    + Lead the program effectively and efficiently and ensure the successful implementation of the academy#s key priorities.

    + Develop and sustain a strong recruitment plan to promote program growth and sustainability.

    + Work in conjunction with the community, business, industry partners, and other local community groups to develop reciprocal opportunities.

    Teaching and Learning:

    + Be central to the recruitment strategy for teachers and students within an expanding academy.

    + Support an innovative and motivating curriculum matched to each student#s needs.

    + Support high expectations and promote an aspirational culture.

    + Ensure focused, data-driven improvement.

    + Involve students in decision-making processes by developing policies and practices that treat students as partners in the learning process.

    + Promote teaching and learning around all subjects.

    + Manage student welfare, child protection, and anti-bullying procedures effectively.

    + Maintain effective assessment, recording, and reporting systems of student progress, and establish challenging targets.

    + Support a program that is well-rounded and supports the overall social, emotional, physical, and academic needs of the students.

    Leading and Managing Staff:

    + Promote the program vision and values in which the highest achievements are expected from all members of the program community.

    + Establish and develop effective collaborative structures and systems with staff.

    + Ensure the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of staff with a focus on continuous improvement.

    + Ensure an aspirational and motivational culture is developed, sustained, and celebrated.

    + Works with the building principal to evaluate.

    Efficient and Effective Use of Staff and Resources:

    + Work with the building principal on the formulation of the annual budget.

    + Ensure that the allocation and use of accommodation provide a positive and safe learning environment that promotes the highest achievement for all.

    + Develop the academy#s commercial opportunities.

    + Ensure that the available IT resources meet the needs of staff and students in an ever-changing technological age.

    Accountability:

    + Work closely with the principal, district team, and other program strategic partners/stakeholders to establish measurable goals and objectives aligned to the district#s strategic plan and the program focus.

    + Establish a data management, goal setting, and review process that serves to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement including but not limited to:·Attendance·Student discipline·Academic progress·Recruitment and retention of staff and students·Post-secondary enrollment·Internships/Externships as well as job opportunities·Academic, Extracurricular, Leadership opportunities·Articulated credits

     

    Non-Essential Functions of this Job

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Demonstrated behaviors related to each of the essential performance criteria for the position of a Florida School Leader as follows: Student Learning Results, Student Learning as a Priority, Instructional Plan Implementation, Faculty Development, Learning Environment, Decision Making, Leadership Development, School Management, Communication, and Professional and Ethical Behaviors. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.

     

    Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements

     

    Master's Degree from an accredited educational institution. Certification in Educational Leadership, Administration, or Administration/Supervision. Successful completion of the district professional learning program for aspiring leaders, unless waived by the Superintendent. Minimum five (5) years effective teaching experience. Membership in the Assistant Principal Applicant Pool unless otherwise exempted as described in the screening, selection and appointment processes related to applying for open positions found in the district L.E.A.D. Plan. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.

    Work Context:

    Requires sitting and some standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires coordinating or leading others in accomplishing work activities. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires making decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the District. Opportunity to make decisions without supervision. Responsible for work outcomes and results. Requires work with both internal and external contacts, and with the public.

    Physical Environment:

    Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and some areas not environmentally controlled. Requires sitting for a portion of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds. Requires travel to schools and work locations within the district.
