    SENIOR LITIGATION PARALEGAL

    The purpose of this position is to provide support in all facets to the Legal Department, including litigation, internal investigations, contracts, governmental filings, legal research, database setup and maintenance, and related matters, and to coordinate or manage individual projects.

     

    This position follows a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to be in the office four (4) days per week.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES BY COMPETENCY

    Functional Expertise:

    + Assists attorneys with managing pre-litigation and litigation matters.

    + Processes incoming subpoenas, collect responsive information and prepare submissions.

    + Coordinate and conduct internal investigations and discovery responses.

    + Prepares, under attorney supervision, non-disclosure agreements, municipal franchise ordinances and other agreements.

    + Manages invoice processing and payment for outside legal services using Company-approved software applications and applying departmental guidelines.

    + Performs legal research; summarizes research and/or findings.

    + Provides legal support to all of the attorneys in the department, including check requests, vendor payee forms, IT access and change forms, and FedEx labels.

    Business Acumen:

    + Understands procedures for preparation and submission of certain court and regulatory filings, and coordinates associated information gathering with other internal departments.

    + Understands Thomspon Reuters Legal Tracker billing system and department billing guidelines.

    + Understands how to perform legal research.

    + Understands legal hold, document collection and e-discovery protocols.

    Engagement:

    + Communicates with outside legal counsel and internal departments regarding certain litigation matters with respect to document/record gathering and scheduling.

    + Communicates with local courts regarding certain filings.

    + Engages management in various internal departments in processing contracts.

    Driving Results:

    + Responsible for processing invoices and generating reports from Thomspon Reuters’ Legal Tracker matter management and billing system.

    + Responsible for submission of certain court filings.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education, Certifications/Licenses:

    Required:

    + Associates Degree or BA/BS degree in legal, business, economics, or similar fields, or equivalent work experience.

    Preferred:

    + Paralegal certification.

    Related Work Experience:

    Required:

    + 3 years experience in a law firm or corporate legal department experience.

    Required:

    + Research skills

    + Project management

    + Computer skills - intermediate proficiency

    + Interpersonal skills

    Preferred:

    + Legal Tracker (formerly Serengeti) – intermediate proficiency

    Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

    + Keyboarding = Constant 67-100%

    + On-Call = None

    + Out of town travel = Rare
