The role** **you’ll** **contribute:

The Referral Specialist, under the direction of the Referral Specialist Manager, is responsible for receiving and processing referral requests in a centralized call center environment. Processes medical record requests pertinent to the referrals as well as obtains authorizations as needed. Serves as a liaison between patients and medical office support staff in regards to referrals and appointment scheduling.

+ Assists patients in a prompt, courteous, and efficient manner.

+ Serves as liaison between the insurance company, the patient, and the physician office.

+ Directs patients to the appropriate specialists and vendors according to their insurance.

+ Takes accurate and legible messages, including time, date and other pertinent details.

+ Answers non-clinical questions for patients and routes all other calls as appropriate.

+ Obtains physician approval for referrals and hospital admissions.

The** **expertise** **and experiences** **you’ll** **need to succeed:

**Minimum qualifications** :

+ High School graduate or equivalent

+ General knowledge of medical terminology

Preferred** **qualifications** **:

+ Associate or higher
