    Job Summary:

    Manages multiple or complex engineering projects involving multiple functions, organizations, products, or value chains with a focus on hydraulic product quality. Identify and direct product quality initiatives to improve customers’ experience with hydraulic components and systems, increase reliability and durability, reduce warranty, and achieve various departmental quality objectives.

    What You Will Do:

    • Develop project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.

    • Coordinating resources across the businesses with product development groups, value chain and manufacturing.

    • Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating in functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.

    • Directing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.

    • Own the process improvement and governance prioritization process to ensure the organization is focused on driving for permanent corrective actions to true root cause.

    • Conducting measurement systems analysis; gathering, analyzing, and communicating non-conformance data.

    • Analyzing non-conformance data and maintaining quality system documentation.

    • Participating in and offering technical support to internal and external audits; following up response of corrective action from audit

    • Utilize BIQ methodologies to drive defects back to the source

    • Utilize failure data from dealers to identify potential service literature gaps

    • Leveraging PIQ process to identify dealer inspection criteria for early hour defects (0MIS)

    • Working with cross functional teams to identify potential locations for IPV (in process validation) gates to check for known defects

    • Establish process to detect emerging quality issues prior to being released into the field and contain

    • Develop systemic project proposals

    Education Requirement:

    • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

    What Skills You Will Have:

    • Strong communication and analytical thinking skills

    • Extensive experience in NPI and CPI systems and processes

    • Understanding of the various Caterpillar systems for quality, reliability, and warranty

    • Intensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and controls to identify and mitigate risk

    • Intensive knowledge of hydraulic systems and components

    • Service literature (SIS) and Dealer Interactions

    • Proactive quality audits

    Technical Excellence:

    • Advises others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions.

    • Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.

    • Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.

    • Coaches others in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing superior technical solutions to business problems.

    • Provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

    • Communicates complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner so that others can understand.

    Requirements Analysis:

    • Plays an active or leading role in recording and storing requirement documents in various forms.

    • Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage.

    • Supervises the advanced use of requirements analysis tools and services, including prototyping and use cases.

    • Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation.

    • Trains others on requirements walkthroughs and quality reviews.

    • Utilizes automated diagramming tools to ensure traceability of requirements.

    Troubleshooting Technical Problems:

    • Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.

    • Resolves difficult or high-impact equipment and systems problems.

    • Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.

    • Coaches others how to resolve integration or communications problems in multi-vendor environment.

    • Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.

    • Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.

     

    Additional Information

     

    The location for this position is Peoria, IL; other Caterpillar locations will be considered for highly qualified candidates (i.e. Clayton, Decatur, Tucson)

     

    Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

     

    This position may require 25+% travel (up to a week a month).

    Summary Pay Range:

    $126,000.00 - $189,000.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
