As a **Machine Configuration Senior Engineer** on the Hydraulic Mining Shovel (HMS) team you will support all platform configuration deliverables for an assigned HMS model working under the guidance of the platform Technical Lead. You will have an opportunity to participate in the design and development of new product concepts and complex engineering projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. You will interact with people from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds. Incumbent will work within the team and beyond the team with contractors, suppliers, customers, and individuals working in many Caterpillar organizations. This position resides with the Hydraulic Mining Shovel (HMS) Engineering team in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do:
+ Develop, maintain, and communicate Bill of Material structure for Hydraulic Mining Shovel machine platform.
+ Build and manage machine top level models using Creo and Teamcenter engineering systems.
+ Assure quality modeling techniques are used in the development of components, groups and systems for the shovel.
+ Support releasing and factory implementation activities of new and/or revised components and assemblies working closely with factory operations team.
+ Manage space claim and resolve interferences on machine platform, coordinating with multiple supporting engineering teams (hydraulics, structures, electrical, engine installation, etc.)
+ Creates concepts and supports the design and development of complex engineering projects.
+ Interact with peers and supporting teams to maintain cross-platform product-line commonality.
+ Provides guidance to other engineers responsible for portions of the product project to ensure development schedules are met.
+ Support virtual build reviews for machine systems, operations, safety, and serviceability.
+ Maintain machine technical specification documents.
+ Support marketing and commercial teams with technical information and simplified models.
+ Review platform specific literature to ensure accuracy prior to publishing.
+ Conducts technical evaluations of major systems on competitive products.
+ Evaluates, defines, and resolves design and manufacturing problems.
+ Complete projects on time and on cost.
+ Provide technical support for machine New Product Introduction (NPI) programs working closely with NPI program manager and platform technical lead.
+ Support product health organization using technical expertise and product knowledge in addressing machine Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and customer issues.
+ Collaborate with the global manufacturing team to evaluate, define, and resolve design and manufacturing problems.
+ Travels to foreign and domestic plants, dealerships and customer job sites to solve design problems or to field-test locations to evaluate product improvements.
What skills you will have:
Problem Solving** : Experience using **Creo and Teamcenter engineering systems. Experience in systems engineering will set you apart.
**Effective Communication:** This role demands **exceptional communication skills** and the ability to collaborate effectively with the global manufacturing team. Additionally, it involves providing guidance and support to other engineers.
**Planning** : Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
**Analytical Thinking** : Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
**Systems Thinking** : Knowledge of the critical interdependencies among individual system elements that help and hinder performance; ability to plan and design solutions that synchronize resources to achieve business results.
**Degree Requirement:** Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate **to work full-time in the Tucson, AZ office.**
Domestic relocation is available.
Occasional travel (10%) may be required to support activities at manufacturing and/or customer sites.

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
