    The State University of New York at Oneonta is looking for a motivated and engaged individual to join our team in the Division of Finance and Administration. Applications are invited for the role of Internal Control Analyst. This position plays a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the University's internal control program. The successful candidate will assist with the continuous assessment and management of institutional risk, particularly in relation to compliance with Federal, State, SUNY and local polices, laws and regulations. Additional responsibilities include coordinating external audits and managing the investigation and processing of small legal claims. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Finance & Administration and Controller, the Internal Control Analyst will contribute significantly to maintaining and strengthening the University's internal control environment. This role requires sound ethical judgement, integrity, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    + Support audits and reviews focused on institutional compliance risks, including areas such as health and safety, emergency management, cybersecurity, legal and regulatory compliance, and disaster planning.

    + Assist in evaluating, designing, and testing operational internal controls to ensure they are effective and aligned with best practices.

    + Document findings from internal control reviews, recommend actionable improvements, and perform follow-up activities to track implementation.

    + Deliver training and guidance to staff on risk management and internal control processes; serve as a resource for departments in applying appropriate measures to mitigate risk and prevent fraud.

    + Assist with external audits to support audit processes and ensure accurate and timely communication of audit findings.

    + Investigate and coordinate the resolution of small legal claims, working with relevant stakeholders as needed.

    + Conduct daily audits of procurement and travel-related transactions to ensure compliance with NYS & SUNY policies and procedures.

     

    Salary: $55,151-$60,000 commensurate with experience. SUNY Oneonta is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness qualifying employer. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree

    + 2 or more years of professional work experience

    + Demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    + Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

    Preferred:

    + Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.

    + Experience working in internal control, auditing or conducting investigations

    + Professional experience working in higher education

    + Experience working with and serving diverse populations
