    The New York City Mayor’s Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five

    boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. New York City

    The Team You’ll Work With

     

    The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Communications, overseen by Deputy Mayor Fabien Levy,

     

    coordinates communications for the whole of city government, breaking down siloes between agencies

     

    and ensuring that city agencies speak with a unified message to New Yorkers.

     

    The Problems You’ll Solve

     

    This role will help build out the core components of the deputy mayor for communications’ new office

     

    by managing the team’s workflow, ensuring the operational efficiency of the office, supporting the

     

    day-to-day operations of the office, providing input on long-term strategic initiatives, and developing

     

    communications materials to advance administration priorities.

     

    - Provide daily briefings to the deputy mayor and chief of staff on high-priority news items and

     

    time-sensitive issues across the communications portfolio.

     

    - Manage the deputy mayor’s workflow and priorities by handling calendar and scheduling

     

    requests.

     

    - Oversee day-to-day Office operations, such as ensuring the deputy mayor has read and signed

     

    key correspondence, booking travel, managing event logistics, reimbursements, and team

     

    record-keeping; coordinating short-term staff, including interns and Fellows.

     

    - Coordinate the deputy mayor’s speaking engagements and public appearances, including

     

    preparation of briefing materials, talking points, and presentations, and staffing the deputy

     

    mayor as needed.

     

    - Provide leverage in moving critical projects forward by assisting with information gathering,

     

    communicating with stakeholders, developing and monitoring project plans, and keeping track

     

    of responsibilities.

     

    - Execute special projects that involve multiple agencies and Mayor’s Offices.

     

    - Perform other related duties and tasks as needed.

     

    - Strategize and coordinate with team members and other departments – including the mayor’s

     

    office of communications, the mayor’s press office, and other city agencies – on long-term

     

    initiatives, including the State of the City address, teleprompter addresses, and policy blueprint

     

    rollouts.

     

    - Participate in meetings, draft strategic memos, lay out themes and initiatives, and provide

     

    direct feedback on prepared materials for long-term initiatives.

     

    - Help craft weekly messaging guidance for the City Hall and city agencies.

     

    - Write, review, and edit press releases, talking points, op-eds, interview documents, remarks,

     

    media advisories, briefing papers, strategic memos, communications plans, and other relevant

     

    materials for the mayor and city agencies.

     

    - Help put together press events for Mayor Adams and city agencies.

     

    - Arrange and support interviews for senior administration officials – including coordinating with

     

    reporters, drafting briefing documents, and preparing principals.

     

    - Serve as an event lead for mayoral appearances and announcements.

     

    - Work to identify opportunities to create processes and systems to improve office efficiencies.

     

    - Perform other related duties and tasks as needed.

     

    About You

     

    - You have demonstrated an understanding of and experience with New York City government

     

    operations.

     

    - You have administrative skills.

     

    - You have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

     

    - You have a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

     

    is imperative.

    COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058

    Qualifications

    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

    2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

    3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

    Salary Min: $ 75,000.00

     

    Salary Max: $ 90,000.00
