    _The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule_ **_YEAR-ROUND_** _._

    Your Responsibilities

    As a **Part-Time Student - Continuous Improvement** for **JD Power Systems** located in **Waterloo, Iowa** , you will:

    + Analyze warranty claims and work with the Customer Support organization to examine failed parts

    + Use defined processes and tools to conduct root-cause analysis

    + Coordinate with Product Verification and Validation factories and suppliers to validate and implement the solution

    + Maintain and develop new tools and process for efficiency improvements

    + Assist the team in identifying issues and proposing resolutions

    + Support the team in defining and documenting assembly and test procedures

     

    This position is NOT available to students on immigration visas.

    What Skills You Need

    + Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science or Data Analytics; others may apply

    + Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university

    + Graduation date of December 2026 or later

    + Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

    + Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly between the business hours of 7 AM to 5 PM

    + Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly between the business hours of 7 AM to 5 PM

    + Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, Iowa, on a weekly basis year-round (NOTE: Relocation assistance is not provided.)

    + Experience with MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) or equivalent

    + Ability to work within a diverse workforce

    + Initiative to complete tasks and a process-oriented mindset

    + Strong communication and organization skills

    + Ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet project schedules

    What Makes You Standout

    + Understanding of engines and engine components

    + Experience with Visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, DataStudio, etc.

    + Good interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

    + High level of attention to detail and accuracy

    + Persistence; able to overcome obstacles by thinking creatively and applying new ideas.

    + Inquisitiveness; approach problems with curiosity and an open mind.

    + Ability to work autonomously as well as in a project team.

    + Experience with Creo Parametric or other 3D modeling software packages

    + Expert user of Excel, PDMLink, SAP

    + Proficiency in programming languages, such as SQL or Python.
