Under the direction of the Director, the Chief Fireman-2nd Class is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of power plant boilers, pumps, auxiliary equipment, and water filter systems. Schedules for power plant coverage 24/7 as required by state law.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The person in this position is required to hold a Massachusetts 2nd class Engineering License and sign all the necessary operating logs and all regulatory compliance reports including but not limited to DEQE, EPA, DEP and risk insurance agencies.

+ Responsible for steam load management,

+ Calculate combustion efficiencies, water consumption, and steam production,

+ Assist the Facility Director and Coordinator in preparing budgets and energy management reports.

+ Oversees the chemical water treatment program for all hydronic systems.

+ Performs combustion efficiency evaluations to determine fuel source.

+ Provides quality control measures for all stored fuel to prevent contamination.

+ Licensed C operator for inground tank.

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Required:

+ High School or Trade School diploma.

+ Massachusetts Third Class Engineer License.

+ 5 years minimum experience in steam power generation.

+ Demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.

+ Thorough knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and controls.
