    Associate Director of Admissions and Welcome Center Operations

    POSITION DETAILS

    The City University of New York (CUNY) is the nation’s largest urban public university system, comprising 25 campuses: eleven senior colleges, seven community colleges, one undergraduate honors college, and six postgraduate institutions spread across New York City’s five boroughs.     The Office of Enrollment Management (EM) at the Central Office invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Admissions & Welcome Center Operations. Reporting to the Director of Admissions Services or their designee in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and positioned within the Office of Enrollment Management, the Office of University Admissions fosters an environment that promotes the University's mission statement and strategic roadmap .

    The Associate Director of Admissions & Welcome Center Operations will perform the following duties:

    + Manage Welcome Center operations by overseeing daily activities, ensuring high-quality customer service, and fostering a welcoming environment for all guests.

    + Supervise, train, and support the on-site admissions team, ensuring staff are well-equipped to effectively engage with prospective undergraduate and graduate students in person, by phone, via email, and virtually; maintain clear communication and engagement with the team and work with other unit leaders to ensure communication is flowing effectively in all directions.

    + Optimize utilization of the Slate CRM and office systems that support the application and inquiry process, ensuring prospective students receive timely and accurate information while maintaining data integrity and operational efficiency; develop weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the Admissions team and Enrollment Management leadership which demonstrate established targets and affirm the effectiveness of the operation.

    + Develop and document processes to improve workflows, team organization, and operational effectiveness, ensuring that all staff understand expectations, responsibilities, and performance goals.

    + Manage admissions/Welcome Center engagements, including meetings, office displays, and community outreach efforts to ensure the Welcome Center presents a professional, engaging and accessible environment, connecting prospective students with the University.

    + Foster a culture of excellence and accountability which builds and nurtures relationships by being a supportive, affirming, and clear leader, setting high expectations while providing guidance, feedback, and professional growth opportunities for the team.

    + Manage the fiscal operations of the Welcome Center in collaboration with the Budget Director to ensure the maintenance of fiscal records, such as budget and expenses; submit requisitions and invoices to the Budget Director for timely processing.

    + Collaborate with the University Director of Recruitment and the University Director of Graduate Enrollment to support the promotion of on-site programs and events for prospective students.

    + Liaise with the Director of Reconnect to support and enhance the Reconnect initiative and ensure that Welcome Center initiatives are aligned to support and grow our adult student population.

    NOTE:

    Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum:

    Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

    Preferred:

    + Proven leadership and supervisory experience in admissions, enrollment management, student services, or a related higher education setting, with a strong ability to train, support, and develop a high-performing team.

    + Strong technical and data management skills, including experience with admissions systems, CRM platforms, and other technology that supports inquiry management, application processing, and operational efficiency.

    + Exceptional communication and documentation abilities, with the capacity to clearly articulate processes, expectations, and strategic goals to staff, ensuring alignment and operational clarity.

    + Demonstrated ability to manage daily operations and improve workflow, fostering an organized, professional, and welcoming environment through effective staff coordination, process optimization, and engagement strategies.

    + Strong collaborative leadership skills with the ability to actively engage with colleagues across the Office of Admissions and Recruitment as well as Management to ensure seamless coordination, shared goals, and a student-centered approach to recruitment and enrollment initiatives.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    The salary range is **$86,645 - $96,602** , commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.

     

    CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
