Description:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Responsible for planning, executing, and completing specific asphalt paving construction projects on time
and within budget. Supports safety training, compliance with safety policies and procedures, and offers
suggestions to improve safety culture and performance for the Contracting team. Review job estimates with
Estimating team to understand what was bid in terms of productivity and profitability for the job.
Communicates and problem solves daily with contracting team, estimating team, asphalt production facilities,
project owners, and inspectors as needed. Effectively works with team to deal with schedule changes and
works collaboratively to solve problems to keep jobs on track. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of
asphalt paving construction principles and best practices to lead the successful completion of projects during
the construction season. Makes decisions independently to address issues, solve problems, and effectively
manage costs for the portfolio of projects. Spends significant amount of time on job sites to manage the job
and address issues. Provides feedback to the contracting and estimating teams on how to best solve
challenges in completing projects on time and under budget. Oversees quality control for the project
from site preparation to paving to patching work. Provides frequent updates on job status and completion
percentage to Estimating team for accurate and timely billing. Reviews job performance (workmanship,
quality, cost, meeting deadlines, etc...) with senior management as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
+ Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
+ Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews project plans. Coordinates and interfaces with the day-to-day technical work of the contracting team.
+ Develops or reviews full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. Determines how to best complete/phase project given timelines and unique attributes of each job.
+ Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis. Manages subcontractors and tracks production of internal and external contracting crews.
+ Manages technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, and regulators) to facilitate appropriate technical decisions, resolve project issues and propose solutions to help meet deadlines and monitor related job costs.
+ Reviews significant bid summaries, major drawings and staffing estimates and schedules.
+ Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
+ Reviews monthly business results and works with the leadership team to address performance gaps as needed.
+ Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
**Education:** High school diploma or 4 years of Project Management experience in paving, road construction, or related field. Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods. Job costing, estimating, & forecasting experience a plus.
**Additional Education Preferred:** Bachelor's degree
**Field of Study Preferred:** Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management
**Required Technical Skills:** Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bid2Win, or related industry software experience strongly preferred
**Travel Requirements:** Weekly local travel to job sites
Additional Requirements:
+ Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved. Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
