    Our Internal Audit Group is a worldwide function with 300 team members and offices across nine countries within American Express. Our mission is to protect and enhance organizational value by providing independent, objective, risk-based assurance, advisory services and to influence the way the company manages risk.

     

    We are committed to growing our audit staff significantly as we continue to expand and enhance the Internal Audit Group. Our assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, and banking operations. Our audit teams align to key risk areas and business units to ensure IAG can provide comprehensive and risk-based audit coverage. In addition, IAG has a Professional Practices group responsible for managing audit operations, quality, and standards; regulatory relations; reporting; training and professional development; and key internal capabilities and technologies.

    About the Role:

    The Audit Director, Risk Transformation PMO, is a new leadership role that will actively support and coordinate the planning, execution, and delivery of short- and long-term IAG outcomes related to Risk Transformation (RT). This role will help develop and manage IAG’s project plan for Risk Transformation deliverables, ensure consistency across audit test plans and validation documentation, track IAG’s progress versus expectations, deliver status reports (for executive management and the Board), coordinate guidance and inquiries with the Central Risk Transformation PMO, and assist in drafting IAG regulatory response as they relate to the Third Line’s RT efforts.

     

    The Audit Director will work closely together internally with other key IAG stakeholders, including the Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk and Compliance audit teams, the Professional Practices Audit Group and the CAE Office; and externally with other enterprise functions, including GRC (Global Risk & Compliance), CEG (Colleague Experience Group – our Human Resources function), and the Central Risk Transformation PMO.

    Key responsibilities include:

    + Coordinate the Risk Transformation effort across IAG to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement; and support procurement of assistance from external SMPs to incorporate industry perspectives across IAG to help with the Third Line’s assessment of the Company’s Risk Transformation efforts

    + Organize all Risk Transformation efforts for an assigned portfolio (e.g., ERM, ORM, Compliance) so they are completed on time and within budget, in close coordination with relevant Audit Leader and Portfolio General Auditor.

    + Assist Head of Risk Transformation PMO to develop, monitor, and manage the IAG Risk Transformation Strategy and collaborate with senior leadership to define risk management strategies and transformation roadmaps.

    + Assist in developing and implementing the PMO framework for Risk Transformation projects, including methodologies, standards, processes and tools, while ensuring IAG’s alignment to enterprise project management standards (and other applicable standards).

    + Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of IAG’s PG efforts while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives

    + Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of risk transformation initiatives

    + Monitor project progress, and ensure timely delivery of project milestones within scope and budget for IAG’s Risk Transformation efforts

    + Identify and mitigate risks and issues that may impact project delivery or business objectives.

    + Prepare and present regular status reports to key stakeholders, and support development of IAG’s overall opinion on the status of the Company’s Risk Transformation initiative for senior management and the Board.

    + Foster a culture of continuous improvement and best practices in project management and risk management.

    + Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to risk management.

    + Drive the adoption of technology solutions and tools to enhance project management and risk monitoring capabilities.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field.

    + Proven track record in managing multiple priorities in audit or risk-related projects in a deadline-driven regulatory environment and providing quality reviews across deliverables.

    + Strong knowledge of financial regulations and risk management frameworks.

    + Excellent understanding of project management methodologies and tools

    + Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Trello) a nd data analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or similar).

    + Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; with proven ability to lead team members in a way that inspires, develops, and delivers results.

    + Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.

    + Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, internal audit, or a related field within financial services.

    + Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role overseeing complex projects, transformational initiatives or a PMO function.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Advanced degree

    + PMP (Project Management Professional), CIA, or equivalent certifications

    + Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.

    + Strong knowledge of internal audit methodologies

    + Experience within Operational/Enterprise Risk Management, Financial Crime and Compliance.

    Qualifications

    Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
