Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer Technician to provide full life cycle technical support for all types of combatant craft, boats, watercraft, amphibious vessels/vehicles, Patrol Coastal Class ships, specialty craft/vessels, life rafts, inflatable craft, unmanned vessels/vehicles, and associated craft and mission systems to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division's Combatant Craft Division.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Mechanical Engineer Technician will perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

+ Experience: Minimum of 7 years of full-time professional experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician, with specific expertise in:

+ + Watercraft Propulsion Systems:

+ Propellers, shafts, and reduction gears

+ Auxiliary Equipment and Systems:

+ Raw water and potable water systems

+ Engine exhaust and fuel systems

+ Lube oil systems

+ Air conditioning and air handling systems

+ Compressed air systems

+ Heating and cooling systems

+ Hydraulic systems

+ All fluid systems

+ General support equipment

+ Clearance: Must possess an active Secret Clearance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines.

+ Experience supporting test and evaluation of maritime mechanical systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Responsibilities include providing mechanical systems engineering technician support for watercraft engineering and marine services. Areas of support may include:
