Position Purpose:
The Clinical Coordinator assists the manager in overseeing daily operations of rehabilitation services, with primary focus on inpatient services.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
+ Oversees development of clinical protocols and outcome based therapeutic interventions for PT, OT, SLP related to inpatient rehabilitation.
+ Demonstrates understanding and enforces policies and procedures concerning department and Hospital operations.
+ Assists in the development of new programs. Acts as clinical liaison between rehabilitation services and internal and external customers.
+ Orients new patients and their families/caregivers to the inpatient rehabilitation program.
+ Ensures balanced assignments of patients within department and works with scheduler to facilitate IPR team meeting needs, management of pre-admit clinical documentation and other tasks related to scheduling.
+ Assists manager with maintaining adequate staffing levels. Participates with manager in monitoring and evaluating staff clinical performance.
+ Provides direct oversight of rehab aides.
+ Coordinates orientation of new staff.
+ Assists manager with risk management and maintaining a safe environment.
+ Assists in departmental purchases of supplies and equipment.
+ Ensures representation of rehabilitation services at all pertinent meetings and committees.
+ Coordinates department-specific continuing education.
+ Develops departmental goals. Assists in development of department budget and in monitoring of revenue and expenses.
+ Practices effective communication and demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional behavior.
+ Maintains confidentiality and promotes a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.
+ Supports weekly huddles.
+ Performs chart reviews/audits.
+ Up to 20% patient care caseload.
+ Supports communication and relationships with physicians and other staff involved in patient care.
Other Functions and Responsibilities

Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure
**Education:** Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology or Physical Therapy.
Certification/Licensure:
+ Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
+ Current State of Michigan licensure: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology
Experience:
+ Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in inpatient rehabilitation.
+ Must have demonstrated leadership experience.
Required Skills and Abilities
+ Excellent communication and organizational skills.
+ Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients and medical staff.
+ Able to function autonomously, be self-directed, and utilize good judgement and decision-making.
+ Demonstrates proficiency in computer data bases and software to effectively perform role.
+ Demonstrates ability to effectively problem solve with internal and external customers.
