    Responsibilities

    Mayo Clinic is seeking an early/mid-career PhD-level investigator with expertise in artificial intelligence and its applications in gastroenterology. The ideal candidate will be an independent researcher with experience in computer vision and AI-driven imaging algorithms for tasks such as endoscopic disease classification, and early cancer detection using endoscopic images, ultrasound or MRI imaging. The selected candidate will be expected to collaborate with our multidisciplinary team, including investigators in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences. The ideal candidate will be an independent researcher who will obtain federal funding within the first three years; while initially supported by the Division of Gastroenterology, candidates will be expected to have a majority of their salary covered by grants at the end of year three.

     

    Consistently the leading gastrointestinal (GI) practice in the nation, the Mayo Clinic Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is transforming healthcare for people with diseases of the digestive tract. In Florida, the division has a long history of innovation in clinical practice, research, education, and procedural arenas that have positively impacted many patients’ lives and led to ground-breaking discoveries. We also have a focus on career development of our faculty leading to the development of world leaders in Gastroenterology. The group consists of 30 clinicians; all highly engaged in research. Investigators are supported by a multidisciplinary and robust clinical, translational, and basic research infrastructure.

     

    The Department of Quantitative Health Sciences (https://www.mayo.edu/research/departments-divisions/quantitative-health-sciences/overview) (QHS) is a multidisciplinary enterprise-wide department with approximately 70 doctoral level and more than 400 allied health staff members, located in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; and Rochester, Minnesota, who are dedicated to improving patient care through medical research. Its mission is to grow and enable outstanding leaders in research, provide international leadership in specialties related to our expertise, provide cutting edge education to Mayo Clinic colleagues, serve as a resource for knowledge and data, and provide unique services that support the mission of Mayo Clinic. The Department consists of the Division of Epidemiology, the Division of Clinical Trials and Biostatistics, the Division of Computational Biology, and the Section of Biomedical Ethics.

    Qualifications

    PhD or MD/PhD

     

    Experience in computer vision and AI-driven imaging algorithms for tasks such as endoscopic disease classification, and early cancer detection using endoscopic images, ultrasound or MRI imaging.

    Compensation Detail

     

    The minimum starting salary for research specialties may range from $114,000 to $272,000. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate will vary based on specialty, experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
