Description
The Director of Coding at Emory Healthcare is responsible for leading coding operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing revenue through accurate coding.
This role includes managing a team of coding professionals, implementing coding policies, conducting audits, and collaborating with clinical and revenue cycle teams.
The Director will also oversee budget allocations for contracted coding services and analyze coding data to drive performance improvements.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
+ Oversee Coding Operations
+ Ensure adherence to coding guidelines, accuracy in documentation, and timely claim submissions.
+ Report key performance indicators to revenue cycle leadership.
+ Monitor reports to ensure timely bill processing.
+ Optimize staffing models and ratios for efficiency.
+ Ensure Compliance with Coding Standards & Regulations
+ Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines.
+ Implement and enforce coding policies and procedures.
+ Monitor Accuracy of Coding
+ Conduct regular audits to assess staff coding accuracy.
+ Collaborate with compliance teams to uphold standards.
+ Provide regular educational initiatives to staff.
+ Analyze Coding Data to Identify Trends & Opportunities
+ Implement strategies to optimize coding performance and revenue capture.
+ Maintain & Enhance Coding Software Systems
+ Collaborate with Emory Digital Team to ensure functional and optimized coding-related software.
+ Budget Oversight of Contracted Coding Services
+ Maintain vendor oversight and analyze invoices for accuracy and accountability.
Additional Job Responsibilities Travel:
+ Less than 10% of the time may be required.
Work Type:
+ This position is a hybrid position which splits time between working remotely and working in the office.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, health administration, or related field.
+ Six years of supervisory progressive medical record coding experience.
+ Demonstrated understanding in how to manage resources across an organization to make an enterprise-wide impact.
