Job Summary and Qualifications
Bariatric Surgery Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the bariatric surgery program by coordinating the care of bariatric surgery patients and sustaining compliance in all Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) components. Clinical responsibilities include comprehensive patient education, staff education, physician communication and assistance, pathway facilitation, postoperative aftercare and outcome management. Required to collect, track and submit reliable data through documentation and entry of 100% of metabolic and bariatric procedures performed at SDMC into MBSAQIP Data Registry. Responsible for adhering to all MBSAQIP quality standards. Maintains and completes payer related certifications (Center of Excellence applications and surveys). Hosts and leads bariatric patient facing seminars. Assists bariatric departmental team in hosting and facilitating bariatric surgery support groups events and other community outreach.
Requirements:
+ Minimum one year RN experience in a hospital surgery department or surgery clinic- required
+ Previous experience with program coordination and development- preferred
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Associate Degree in Nursing, or Bachelors Degree in Nursing, or Masters Degree in Nursing
