  • Senior Trade Surveillance Consultant - FICC…

    ManpowerGroup (New York, NY)

    Apply Now

Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking a Senior Trade Surveillance Consultant – FICC & Equities to join their team. As a Senior Trade Surveillance Consultant, you will be part of the Global Trade Surveillance team supporting critical initiatives in the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) sector. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and a collaborative spirit which will align successfully in the organization.

We’re seeking an experienced Trade Surveillance specialist to join our CIB Markets Control team on a contract basis, onsite in NYC or Charlotte, NC.

You will be a first‐level detection resource, responsible for designing, implementing, and executing both automated and manual trade surveillance controls across Fixed Income, FX, Commodities, Equities, and related Derivatives. Your primary focus will be on detecting market‐abuse risks—insider trading, layering/spoofing, wash trades, front‐running, “banging the close,” and other sophisticated abuse scenarios—and escalating issues to senior management and investigation teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    + **Control Design & Build**

+ Develop interim and strategic rule-based and risk-based surveillance scenarios for market‐abuse behaviors across asset classes.

+ Configure alert parameters (e.g., volume spikes, yield-curve anomalies, TWAP deviations, cross-venue price disparities).

+ Collaborate with Risk Owners, Risk Stewards, CIB Surveillance Technology, and Product Management to enhance control frameworks.

    + **Automated Surveillance Execution**

+ Monitor daily system-generated alerts for layering/spoofing, wash trades, front-running, pre-hedging, ramp-and-dump, and other abuse patterns.

+ Tune detection engines to balance risk coverage and false-positive rates.

+ Document and communicate parameter-adjustment recommendations.

    + **Manual Review & Dispositioning**

+ Perform targeted manual surveillance for flagged trades (e.g., insider-event volume surges, end-of-day “banging the close,” OTC vs. exchange wash chains).

+ Accurately disposition alerts, log case notes, and escalate high-priority or repeat offenders.

+ Provide first‐level investigative support by gathering trade blotters, time-and-sales data, and counterparty information.

    + **Risk Assessments & Reporting**

+ Participate in periodic risk-coverage assessments to identify surveillance gaps and build remediation roadmaps.

+ Contribute to ongoing parameter-setting workshops and control-optimization forums.

+ Prepare clear, concise summaries of detection performance and emerging abuse trends for senior management.

    Required Qualifications

+ **Experience:** 5+ years in trade surveillance, market‐abuse controls, risk management, compliance, or trading operations—ideally within FICC, Equities, FX, and/or Commodities.

+ **Product Knowledge:** Deep understanding of the following instrument scopes:

+ Fixed Income (bonds, commercial paper, MBS/ABS)

+ FX spot, forwards, swaps, and options

+ Commodities futures/options and related OTC contracts

+ Equities (listed shares, ETFs, depositary receipts) and related Derivatives

+ **Regulatory Frameworks:** Hands-on exposure to EU MAR, UK MAR (on-shored), EMIR, and other global market-abuse regimes.

+ **Technical Skills:** Proficiency with rule-based and risk-based surveillance platforms (e.g., Actimize, NICE, Scila, in-house engines).

+ **Analytical Abilities:** Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; high attention to detail and accuracy.

+ **Communication:** Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills—able to translate complex technical findings into clear business language.

+ **Collaboration:** Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Technology, Product, Risk, and Compliance teams.

+ **Judgment & Escalation:** Demonstrated capability to raise issues confidently, escalate early, and challenge controls constructively.

    Preferred Qualifications

+ Prior trading or front-office experience in any of the covered asset classes.

+ Certification in surveillance or compliance (e.g., CAMS, CRCM).

+ Experience supporting investigations or providing testimony for regulatory inquiries. **Upon completion of waiting period consultants are eligible for:**

+ Medical and Prescription Drug Plans

    + Dental Plan

    + Vision Plan

    + Health Savings Account

    + Health Flexible Spending Account

+ Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account
