    Delta’s Revenue Technology, Loyalty, and Data Analytics organization unites several groups to achieve strategic business goals and technical solutions that create opportunities for us to innovate on behalf of our customers. The General Manager, Data Operations oversees the end-to-end data operations, ensuring data availability, quality, and security. This role is crucial for optimizing Data & AI platforms, automating pipelines, and facilitating the seamless flow of data between various systems and users. They will also have experience with the full DataOps lifecycle, including ingestion and ETL processes into databases, data lakes, or data warehouses.

    Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    + Manage end to end operations of ourcloud based Data & AI platforms which includes the Enterprise DataWarehouse, Data Lakes, AI/Machine Learning, Data Pipelines, ETL, BusinessIntelligence and Streaming Platforms

    + The ideal candidate will be aninnovative problem-solver with a passion for developing and managinghigh-performing teams

    + Manage AWS based cloud infrastructure,data engineering, and data operations

    + Leading and motivating teams to achieveobjectives and managing multiple projects simultaneously

    + Develop and implement comprehensivestrategies that drive data operations success

    + Evaluate software requests in order todetermine where existing requirements intersect or can be used in conjunctionwith new products as needed.

    + Estimate the technical debt of thecreation of new features or systems and interpret specifications, troubleshoot,and define needed software solutions.

    + Help us stay ahead of the curve byworking closely with data engineers, stream processing specialists, APIdevelopers, our Architecture team, and analysts to design systems which canscale elastically

    + Lead the development of best practicesand design patterns for data engineering, operations and analytics, staying atthe forefront of industry trends and continuously refining our processes toensure the highest-quality, innovative, and efficient solutions.

    + Build and operate software across ourentire cutting-edge data platform, including event driven data processing,storage, and serving through scalable and highly available APIs, with awesomecutting-edge technologies.

    + Identify and remediate security andresiliency risks for Data & AI platforms

    + Think of new ways to help make our dataplatform more scalable, resilient and reliable and then work across our team toput your ideas into action.

    + Work closely with data analysts andbusiness stake holders to make data easily accessible and understandable tothem.

    + Ensure data quality by implementingre-usable data quality frameworks.

    + Work closely with various other dataengineering teams to roll out new capabilities.

    + Build process and tools to maintainMachine Learning pipelines in production.

    + Develop and enforce data engineering,security, data quality standards through automation.

    + Be responsible for cloud cost andimproving efficiency.

    + Keep data accessible and secure. Partnerwith security and compliance to design systems using modern technologies tomake system and user access as effortless as possible within the needs toprotect content, user privacy, and integrity.

    + Understand and respond to engineeringneeds for a good portfolio of fit-for-purpose database technologies, but don’tsacrifice operability, scale, reliability, or resource fungibility across theorganization. Manage the lifecycle of old and new tech.

    + Builddocumentation, automation, repeatable processes, operational tooling, and arobust suite of test capabilities to validate deployments, nonfunctionalrequirements, resiliency, and scale.

    What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

    + Bachelor’s degree in Science, Statistics, Engineering, Business Administration or similar field of study

    + 15+ years of experience building and scaling data platforms

    + 5+ years of experience with cloud data technologies including AWS, Glue, Airflow

    + Expert in one or modern data replication and data integration tools (for example AWS DMS, etc.)

    + Expert in one or more modern data lake and data warehouse tools (for example Teradata, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)

    + Expert in one or more modern advanced analytics tools (for example Spark, Databricks, etc.)

    + Passion for working with data and deriving insights to answer business questions that drive actions and decision-making

    + Experience with programming languages – SQL, Python

    + Experience leveraging creative analytics techniques and output to tell a story to drive business decisions

    + Champions the capabilities and benefits of analytical data assets. Partner effectively across departments and stakeholders

    + Solid business acumen, and critical problem-solving ability, with a capacity for strategic thinking

    + Experience with business intelligence, dashboard and data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Quicksight

    + Deep understanding of API connectivity and data streaming architecture

    + Exceptional leadership qualities with a track record of mentoring high-performing teams

    + Comfort level with ambiguity and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time

    What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

    + Advanced degree in Science, Statistics, Engineering, Business Administration or similar field of study

    + Understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI methodologies like RAG, Vector Stores

    + Experience with MLOps with tooling such as MLflow

    + Airline Industry experience preferred
