You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. The DC Security org owns a collection of security devices, third party software and firmware, and home-grown software tools and bespoke hardware solutions. This technology provides both physical and data security at traditional datacenters (lease/owned and Colo) as well as Edge and Non-traditional Environments. Our team is seeking System Development engineers with broad technical skills to help us optimize how we connect to these devices and monitor availability. You will deliver a system that monitors health of security devices, understands the criticality of each component, and drives prioritization and alarming for remediation of each system. As a member of this team you will employ Python and Typescript/Javascript and Database query language such as SQL. You will get to use the full set of AWS technologies to build these services. The services that you build will be a force multiplier for protecting the AWS cloud for all customers. This will help us preserve our customers’ trust in us. AWS is a world leader in providing highly available and secure infrastructure in the cloud and it powers millions of customers around the globe.

Key job responsibilities

Participate in the design, development, implementation, testing and documentation of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services. Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture. Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance. Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation. Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools. Mentor junior development engineers.

The AWS Data Center Engineering team is looking for the ideal candidate who will draw upon exemplary analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and a passion for maintaining highly reliable, distributed systems that operate 24/7/365.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

- Experience tools for automation (building, testing, releasing or monitoring)

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Python scripting language

- Experience on highly concurrent, high throughput systems and knowledge of complex distributed systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
