Early Childhood Extended Program Manager
(Hours: 9:30 – 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday)
What?
Children’s Day School (CDS) in San Francisco seeks a dynamic leader for its preschool afternoon program. Reporting to the Extended Program Director and the Early Childhood Program Director, the Manager is responsible for managing the extended program and leading the afternoon teaching staff in providing a developmentally appropriate preschool program for a mixed-age program (ages 3-5). Where?
CDS is located on a beautiful, secluded half-acre in the Mission near Dolores Park. Our after school program employs the use of indoor classrooms, the roof deck and courtyard, farm and garden (featuring six chickens and two sheep!), and a preschool yard with sandbox, mud kitchen, water, and tricycles.
Responsibilities
+ Team: Assist Extended Program Director and Early Childhood Program Director with leading and managing the early childhood after care team and liaise with the school day teaching team. Collaborate, problem-solve, and communicate with school-day teaching team members. Assist with managing a team of preschool extended program teachers.
+ Supervise and support one extended day teacher and camp teachers
+ Manage teacher-to-child ratios and work to cover afternoon teacher absences
+ Maintain systems for tracking student pick-up at the end of the day
+ Collaborate with Extended Program Director to market preschool conference and vacation camps
+ Collaborate with the Extended Program Director to monitor and procure enrichment classes for the afterschool program
+ Collaborate with Extended Program Director on registration and billing for enrichment classes and conference and vacation camps
+ Collaborate with Early Childhood Program Director to manage after care preschool budget
+ Assist the preschool by subbing in classrooms on designated days
+ Plan and order snack and program supplies
+ Curriculum: Manage, plan, and implement an exciting, challenging, child-centered, and developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum for the extended program (Ducklings).
+ Plan agendas for weekly afternoon team meetings to address curricular development and operational issues
+ Guide after care program staff in daily/weekly development of programming, in collaboration with day program
+ Collaborate with Early Childhood Program Director to develop curriculum
+ Collaborate with Extended Program Director and ECP Director to develop engaging preschool conference and vacation camp programs and curriculum
+ Children: Encourage children to take initiative to solve problems and pursue their own educational interests. Help children think, investigate and ask questions as part of the educational process. Strive to meet each child’s individual needs.
+ Work as an afternoon teacher with children from 2:00-6:00 pm
+ Bridge gap between day program and after care with regard to individual student needs and care
+ Support after care teachers with behavior management
+ Families: Support a physically and emotionally safe environment that nurtures and facilitates the development of both children and families. Collaborate with families toward their child’s success.
+ Communicate with preschool families about important events during the school day and after care program
+ Write weekly blog posts documenting after-school curriculum
+ Assist families with registration, billing, and scheduling

+ Keep the classroom, storage areas, bathrooms, and outside areas neat and orderly.
+ Work effectively with children, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds and family structures.
+ Communicate and problem-solve with the school day teaching staff about students and families.
+ Be proficient in technology: email, word processing, photos, etc. Comfort with blogging is required.
Requirements
The successful candidate will:
+ Have at least a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education (or be working towards one) or in a related field, with site supervisor qualifications.
+ Be able to lift 40 lbs (the weight of the average preschool child)
+ CPR and First Aid Certification required (paid for by CDS)

Compensation
Salary will be based on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits offered, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous PTO, and an employer-paid retirement plan.
$94,860.00- $100,540.00
