    Description:

    The overall goal for the Grant Program Leader at the COAACH Center is to lead recruitment efforts and support the administrative staff of an NIH funded research study examining cognition in a diverse cohort of older Americans. The Program leader leads recruitment efforts and the management and development of research and community outreach projects. The Program Coordinator will supervise the Grant Program Coordinator and assist the Study PI and COAACH Director in achieving the aims of the grant and implementing effective study participant recruitment programs, working closely with community partners in producing community health and education events to raise awareness about the research study to increase recruitment efforts. The Program Leader will plan and initiate community health education events that will promote the recruitment of research participants into the research study. In addition to the duties above, the Program Grant Leader will independently manage a broad range of business and administrative affairs. The primary responsibilities will include providing supervision of the Grant Program Coordinator and administrative support to the Study PI in the areas of facilitation and management of financial resources, personnel administration, payroll, planning, and organization of the unit needs.

     

    The Program Leader will supervise the day-to-day administrative workflow of the study, coordinate activities with the Program Coordinator, use discretion & judgment in handling confidential matters, facilitate meetings, assist the PI with special projects and events, and supervise and lead student-led recruitment activities.

    North Carolina A&T State University is a 1890 land-grant doctoral research university dedicated to learning, discovery and community engagement. The College of Science and Technology is research oriented and fosters academic excellence through innovative programs, critical thinking and intellectual inquiry to prepare students for the 21st century global workforce. The College plays a pivotal role in further advancing the mission of the University by emphasizing preeminence in STEM and the promotion of curricular advancement, scientific discovery and technological innovation. The College houses the departments of Applied Engineering Technology, Biology, Built Environment, Chemistry, Computer Systems Technology, Mathematics & Statistics, Physics and the Applied Science and PhD program.

     

    The overall mission of COAACH is to improve healthy aging in diverse communities. The center is N.C. A&T’s first formal Community Outreach Center and the first center of this type in the State of North Carolina on a Historically Black University’s campus. The goal of the center is to improve health through outreach and improve literacy, awareness and engagement among diverse communities. The four major cores of the center are: 1) community outreach and education in Alzheimer’s, Aging and Community Health, 2) intervention and support, 3) education and training, and 4) research in the field of Alzheimer’s disease.

    Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.

     

    All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

    Preferred:

    Bachelor’s degree, and/or six or more years experience working on clinical research or public health projects with a health education focus, demonstrated understanding of health equity, ease in communicating with experts and lay individuals. Be comfortable using teleworking technology, Microsoft Office Suite and other software platforms as needed. Supporting content development and management for COAACH -related messaging including website information and social medial postings would be beneficial to the grant program leader.
