    Role Purpose: This role is responsible for the assurance of component and product quality as defined from blueprints and internal quality criteria records. The main tasks are the assessment through measurement and the decision that an item fulfils the specifications. The inspector plays a key position in the overall quality management system where process standardization and the reduction in performance variation are integral to the plant’s continuous improvement.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    + Inspection and assessment of incoming, work-in-process, and final materials.

    + Adherence to all company and quality policies and procedures.

    + Assist with the document control maintenance.

    + Assist with the maintenance of measurement devices in the calibration program.

    + Completion of process data collection and statistical evaluations.

    + Handle multiple tasks and accept verbal direction with efficiency.

    + Collection of records, history and other pertinent information to summarize reports.

    + Assessment of return goods and customer compliant items as directed.

    + Maintain a neat and orderly work site.

    + Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Critical Competencies:

    + Ability to read blueprints.

    + Knowledge of proper usage methods for measurement equipment, i.e.: gages, callipers, height gages, micrometeors and other standard devices

    + Ability to perform basic math functions; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, proportions, rates, and percents.

    + Understanding of basic statistical functions; average, range, standard deviation, SPC charts, scatter plots, and regression.

    + Familiarity with production software MRP, ERP systems required.

    + Basic computer skills, such as MS Office suite

    + Basic technical problem-solving skills.

    + Good organizational skills and ability to handle administrative tasks.

    + Good written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to interact with a variety of departments and customers.

    Physical Demands:

    + Ability to stand and stoop often and to work in and about large load frame assemblies.

    + Ability to traverse the plant.

    + Visual acuity to read information electronically and on paper. Ability to read font size 6 and higher with or without correction.

    + Be able to handle a variety of materials; rubber(s), vinyl, latex, metal(s), urethane(s) and chemical solvents.

    + Ability to communicate with co-workers and supervisors.

    + Physical strength to lift and carry 25 pounds frequently through the day and material weighting up to 250 pounds with assistance occasionally.

    + Ability to use of a variety of hand tools including (but not limited to) Allen wrenches, torque wrenches and socket wrenches.

    + Ability to perform keyboarding.

    Education/Experience:

    + Minimum HS diploma or GED required.

    + Two-year technical degree (ASME) or equivalent from an accredited technical institution is preferred. Machine shop experience in the quality discipline or a related field will be considered.

    + One to three years of quality or related experience in a factory environment is preferred.

    + Prior Experience in an ISO 9001 systems a plus.

    + Database experience is a plus. CMM capabilities are a plus.

    + MS Office literate using Word, Excel, Access and Outlook; knowledge of quality principles.
