Description

Robert Half Legal is partnering with a reputable mid-sized law firm that's seeking a Litigation Paralegal with at least 3-5+ years of experience handling medical malpractice or insurance defense litigation to join their team. The Litigation Paralegal is responsible for assisting with managing all aspects of large-scale complex litigation reporting directly to partners. This Litigation Paralegal will assist medical malpractice and insurance defense attorneys with a yearly billable hour target of 1400 hours. The salary on this position is paying between $80-100K plus bonus and full benefits. Candidates will be required to work in-office 4 days per week with one day per week from home. Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for organizing and managing electronic and hard copy document collections

+ Manages document production processes

+ Assists with the collection of material from client, opposing parties, and third parties (hard copies, electronic data, physical evidence)

+ Manages logistics of production of documents - hard copy, images, native

+ Coordinates preparation and filing of briefs and legal documents

+ Research local rules of procedure for relevant court venues, and obtain info re same

+ Drafts routine filings (e.g., attorney appearances, notices of filings, notices of motions)

+ Checks legal cites for proper format, content and standing (Westlaw, Lexis, Blue Book)

+ Research and checks fact cites for proper format, content, and accuracy (Blue Book)

+ Manages service of process; files with court and serves on parties; coordinates with local counsel

+ Manages trial and hearing preparation and support including preparing pretrial documents, managing trial transcripts, and compiling and tracking trial exhibits

Requirements

+ Bachelor Degree needed; paralegal certificate preferred

+ 3-5+ years of litigation paralegal experience preferably in medical malpractice or insurance defense

+ Experience with Relativity is preferred but not needed

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
