Description We are looking for a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Appleton, Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare billing and claims management, with expertise in utilizing Epic software and payor portals. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical claims while resolving any issues with insurance providers.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the submission and processing of medical claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations.

• Utilize Epic software to efficiently handle billing tasks and monitor accounts receivable.

• Navigate payor portals to upload coding appeals and address claim discrepancies.

• Investigate denied claims by contacting insurance companies and resolving issues to facilitate timely payments.

• Apply knowledge of general surgery billing to ensure proper coding and reimbursement.

• Use tools such as Availity and organization-specific portals to streamline billing operations.

• Maintain detailed records of claim statuses and appeals for reporting purposes.

• Collaborate with internal teams to identify and resolve billing errors or delays.

• Stay updated on healthcare billing standards and insurance policies to optimize processes. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or healthcare claims management.

• Proficiency in Epic software and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

• Strong understanding of general surgery billing practices and procedures.

• Familiarity with payor portals and tools such as Availity.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills to address claim denials and insurance discrepancies.

• Ability to manage accounts receivable and ensure timely payments.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Knowledge of healthcare billing regulations and compliance standards.
