Description

A notable, fast-growing company in the Wilmington Delaware area is looking for a Controller/Accounting Manager to join their team. As the Controller/Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities. You will take charge of identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, as well as nurturing existing client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Supervises the preparation of regular financial reports, ensuring completeness and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), tax regulations, and other compliance requirements

+ Possesses a deep understanding of business operations, providing informed financial guidance across departments, answering inquiries, and interpreting data in context

+ Maintains a formalized framework of accounting policies and procedures while implementing oversight controls to mitigate risks associated with accounting transactions

+ Collaboratively develops the annual budget and financial forecasts, monitors variations, and conducts budget-versus-actual (BVA) analyses

+ Offers financial insights, focusing on capital investments, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations

+ Oversees the accounting team, including hiring, training, and professional development, fostering their growth throughout their employment lifecycle

+ Manages the monthly closing process, ensuring precise inputs such as account reconciliations, journal entry bookings, unearned revenue models, deferred cost of goods sold (COGS), and inventory reconciliations, while ensuring the team meets deadlines

Requirements

The ideal Controller/Accounting Manager will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CMA designation preferred.

Other requirements for the Controller/Accounting Manager role include and are not limited to:

+ 5+ years of progressive advancement leading an accounting department is required

+ 2+ years Controller experience is strongly preferred

+ Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
