Description We are looking for a skilled Payroll Supervisor/Manager to lead payroll operations for a large-scale organization in Long Beach, California. This long-term contract position involves overseeing payroll processes for up to 1,000 employees while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, expertise in payroll systems like Kronos or Workforce Central, and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely results.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and execute comprehensive payroll processing for up to 1,000 employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational policies.
• Supervise and guide a team of payroll staff, fostering growth and ensuring efficient daily operations.
• Optimize the use of payroll systems such as Kronos or Workforce Central to streamline processes and maintain accurate employee data.
• Address and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly, ensuring smooth and error-free operations.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, maintaining meticulous records for auditing purposes.
• Prepare detailed payroll reports for management and ensure organized, accessible documentation.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to align payroll activities with organizational goals.
• Identify opportunities for process enhancements and lead initiatives to improve payroll workflows.
• Troubleshoot technical issues within payroll systems and coordinate with IT support when necessary.
• Ensure timely and accurate administration of employee benefits, such as 401(k) contributions. Requirements • At least 5 years of payroll management experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven ability to manage payroll for large organizations, preferably with up to 1,000 employees.
• Expertise in using Kronos or Workforce Central payroll systems, including troubleshooting and optimization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
• Certified Payroll designation is highly advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a collaborative approach to cross-departmental coordination.
