This role involves overseeing key financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic initiatives. + Manage the monthly close process, ensuring financial records are accurate and timely.

+ Lead payroll operations, achieving high levels of accuracy and ensuring all submissions meet deadlines.

+ Monitor and enhance process performance metrics, including reducing emergency orders and improving overall operational efficiency.

+ Ensure effective budget management by maintaining expenditures within allocated thresholds.

+ Oversee invoice processing, ensuring timely and accurate completion with minimal need for follow-up actions.

+ Partner with the executive team to support fundraising and grant administration by maintaining proper grant records and assisting with donor engagement efforts.

+ Take on key special projects, such as strengthening data security protocols, improving project management tools, and facilitating transitions for software migrations.

+ Ensure adherence to financial policies and guidelines, including proper expense classification and revenue tracking.

+ Develop strategies to streamline payroll processes and evaluate future payroll systems or vendors.

+ Produce and submit local hiring compliance reports in an accurate and timely manner.

Requirements

+ Professional Experience: At least 7 years of experience in accounting or financial roles, with a focus on grant or fund accounting.

+ Sector Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in financial management within the non-profit sector preferred.

+ Payroll Expertise: A strong background in overseeing payroll operations, with a proven track record of minimizing errors and improving efficiency.

+ Financial Reporting Skills: Deep familiarity with month-end close processes, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.

+ Grant & Donor Experience: Proficiency in managing grants, including recordkeeping and coordinating donor communications.

+ Project Management Skills: Comfort using tools for project and process management, as well as experience overseeing tech system transitions.

+ Attention to Detail: A track record of accuracy in financial operations, with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
