Description

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join a busy and well-established tax office in Santa Rosa, California. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients while also spending time independently managing tax preparation tasks. Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to client service, a passion for numbers, and a desire to grow within the organization.

Responsibilities:

+ Accurately prepare individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.

+ Use tax preparation software (e.g., Drake) to enter and review client financial data.

+ Communicate with clients to collect documentation and clarify financial information.

+ Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.

+ Stay current on tax code updates to provide accurate and informed guidance.

+ Represent clients in addressing IRS inquiries and resolving tax-related issues.

+ Maintain high-quality work standards during peak tax season under tight deadlines.

+ Deliver a smooth and professional client experience throughout the tax preparation process.

+ Organize and maintain financial records to support audit readiness.

+ Manage multiple priorities efficiently in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

+ At least 2 years of experience in tax preparation or a financial office environment.

+ Proficient in tax preparation software with strong technical skills.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication, with keen attention to detail.

+ Enrolled Agent (EA) certification or equivalent tax credential required.

+ Strong grasp of basic math and core financial principles.

+ Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.

+ Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
