    K–8 Music Teacher

    Position Summary:

    This role involves teaching foundational music concepts, nurturing students’ artistic expression, and preparing them for performances through skill-building and creative exploration, with a specialization in string instruments.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Implement the music program for Kindergarten through Grade 8 according to the Core Knowledge curriculum

    + Develop and deliver engaging, goal-oriented lessons based on clear learning objectives

    + Regularly assess student progress and provide timely feedback via progress reports and report cards

    + Create a positive classroom environment by consistently applying MVRCS’s assertive discipline model

    + Collaborate regularly with colleagues in the Specials department and assigned Assistant Director

    + Participate in all staff meetings and professional development sessions

    + Assist with school-wide events and performances

    + Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education required

    + Previous experience in music instruction or conducting strings ensembles

    + Ability to work effectively with students of different ages and abilities

    + Strong classroom presence and organizational skills

    + Commitment to inspiring musical growth and performance readiness

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills

    + Ability to evaluate student progress and determine appropriate instructional strategies

    + Strong classroom management and organizational skills

    + Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and families

    + Familiarity with state and federal educational laws and school policies

    + Must pass applicable MTELs within one year of employment

    + This is a full-time, annual appointment, subject to yearly evaluation
