    SUMMARY

    The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the team of laundry attendants, achieving operational objectives, and ensuring that quality controls are in place.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

     

    + Works alongside Laundry Attendants to include washing, drying, sorting, folding and organizing terry & linens.

    + Oversees the daily operations of the laundry facility, ensures that quality controls are in place & all safety policies and procedures are in place for all linen processes.

    + Maintains cleanliness and organization of the linen area.

    + Assists the Stateside Housekeeping & Laundry Manager as needed with various tasks to include verifying laundry requests are completed for each Resort department in a timely manner.

    + Ensures that filled linen carts are placed in designated areas.

    + Orders laundry supplies & monitors laundry scheduling needs according to occupancy levels.

    + Participates in ongoing training for laundry team members.

    + Reports equipment issues to the Maintenance Department and to the Stateside Housekeeping & Laundry Manager.

    + In coordination with the housekeeping supervisor, assist in yearly inventory of linen and maintains an accurate count of discarded linens.

    + Assists in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with others; supports the team to reach common goals; listens and responds appropriately to the concerns of other employees.

    + Assists in identifying, recommending, developing, and implementing new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings considerations.

    + Other duties as assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related, or un-related to original position

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Directly supervises up to 15 employees in the Laundry Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning workday and directing workload; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Reporting to a manager any serious employee problems.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

    Must have a professional and courteous attitude toward guests, other employees and the general public at all times.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands & arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit, and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, or vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to working near moving mechanical parts. There is typically a moderate noise level.

    RESORT CONDITIONS

    This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
