JOB SUMMARY
The Weld Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Weld Department and will lead a highly experienced weld team to meet the goals of the company and our customers. This position will ensure that all safety protocols are followed consistently and correctly. They will collaborate with our leadership team in production output, staffing, equipment needs, quality assurance, and employee development. The Weld Manager will identify both short and long-term goals of the department, ensuring strategic alignment while driving continuous improvement to achieve organizational objectives.
This management position will ensure that the scheduled work is executed safely and in a systematic manner while ensuring the quality standards are being met so that qualified technicians perform the assigned tasks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensures the safety of the team by diligently monitoring operations, enforcing all safety rules, and implementing safety protocols.
2. Provide direct managerial oversight of the department and personnel while motivating, coaching and counseling the team to achieve the desired results.
3. Use company identified metrics to track and assess the performance of the team while helping to gauge progress towards goals and informed decision-making. Use metrics to establish daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communication to the team.
4. Oversee all activities of the Weld Department that contribute to the repair of the turbine engine components.
5. Handle multiple projects and tasks concurrently. Prioritize, delegate and organize projects effectively to ensure seamless workflow and efficiency.
6. Evaluates and recommends equipment needs and purchases and establish the integration plan of the assets.
7. Monitor assigned work while reviewing completed jobs/projects to ensure adherence to work scope, labor factors and company expectations.
8. Perform or oversee administrative functions, such as personnel work hours, scheduled time off, shift schedules, overtime, performance reviews, employee development, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions and the leading of regular team meetings.
9. Establish and implement employee training and succession planning.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. A minimum of two years’ experience as a supervisor or manager in a manufacturing and/or weld environment.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills to internal and external levels.
3. Experience in TIG welding.
4. Experience in interpreting and following verbal and written instructions accurately, including the reading and interpretation of shop drawings, welding symbols, and work scope instructions, and applying basic shop math skills to the same.
5. Familiarity with manufacturing and production welding equipment.
6. Basic knowledge of computers.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum two years field experience.
2. High School graduate, with advanced educational accreditation.
3. An understanding of the NDT (non-destructive testing) process.
4. Demonstrated ability to multi-task while adhering to a high attention to detail standards.
5. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
6. Familiarity with measuring gages such as calipers and micrometers.
7. Preferred, but not required:
a. Technical high school, or equivalent trade school completion in a weld curriculum.
b. Successful completion of skill specific TIG welding courses from an approved technical or welding school.
c. Previous certification credentials in an AWS welding classification, with AWS.
d. Aerospace background or repair/overhaul of turbine gas components.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
2. Follow general shop safety procedures including the occasional use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
3. Work in difficult positions from time to time. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift. Move parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (<50 pounds) with or without hoists, slings, or carts.
4. Occasionally use powered and non-powered hand tools.
