We are seeking a radiochemistry postdoctoral fellow to work in Dr. Krebs' lab, in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The primary focus of the Krebs Laboratory is the development and preclinical evaluation of imaging and therapeutic (theranostic) agents in conjunction with cellular engineering.

The project(s) involve the development and preclinical evaluation of theranostic radiohaptens in conjunction with cellular engineering as well as antibodies for use in immunoPET/SPECT and radioimmunotherapy, radiolabeling of various chelators, haptens and antibodies for example with 89Zr, 68Ga, 225Ac, 86Y, 161Tb, 177Lu including purification techniques and characterization through HPLC and iTLC. Learn in vitro cell culture studies and in vitro assays with radiolabelled haptens and antibodies including cellular uptake, saturation binding, competitive binding, kinetic assays, antibody internalization, and survival assays. In vivo studies include molecular imaging studies including PET and SPECT imaging, pharmacokinetic analyses, ex vivo biodistribution analyses, autoradiography, and immunohistochemistry. Assessment of treatment efficacy and toxicity, e.g., using caliper measurements, bioluminescence imaging, and blood draws. Learn experimental design, data collection, and analysis. Literature review. Write scientific articles. Develop presentation skills in lab meetings and conferences. Supervising, teaching, and mentoring of students/lab personnel. Build a scientific network through interdisciplinary collaborations and attending and presenting at conferences. Develop grant writing skills and leadership skills. Develop independent research project.

    *LEARNING OBJECTIVES*

    1. Develop and implement procedures for synthesis/radiolabeling of compounds.

    2. Learn in vitro and in vivo evaluation of radioactively labeled ligands. Learn analysis of molecular imaging studies and assessment of treatment efficacy and toxicity.

    3. Learn experimental design, data analysis and scientific writing. Participate and present in lab meetings and well-known conferences, develop grant writing and leadership skills.

    *ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS*

The ideal candidate will have recently (within three years) been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.) in an appropriate field (e.g.; chemistry, radiochemistry). Expertise or skills in the following areas are highly desirable: advanced knowledge and experience in synthetic chemistry, expertise in various characterization techniques NMR, IR spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy, cell culture, animal experiments.

The candidate must be an expert in their field, who brings a high level of motivation to immerse themselves in a high-level collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, bridging the boundaries between various disciplines.
