1. Tax Review
+ **Review chart of accounts and classifications** : Especially important in digital marketing where lines between advertising, consulting, and R&D can blur.
+ **Verify depreciation/amortization schedules** : For any owned assets, software licenses, or office equipment.
+ **Evaluate deductibility of marketing spend** : Ensure expenses align with IRS rules, especially large media buys or influencer fees.
+ **Check for compliance with Section 174** : As of 2022, R&D expenses (including software development or marketing analytics tools built internally) must be capitalized and amortized—this may apply to in-house tech or campaign analytics systems.
2. Advisory & Planning
+ **Tax strategy for entity structure** : Advise whether the current S-Corp, LLC, or other setup is optimal for tax efficiency.
+ **Quarterly estimated tax payments** : Calculate and advise on federal and state estimated payments.
+ **Discuss R&D tax credit eligibility** : For companies developing proprietary marketing platforms, data analysis tools, or automation technology.
+ **Plan for growth-related tax implications** : Guidance on hiring (W-2 vs. 1099), benefits, and multi-state tax issues.
3. Client Communication & Compliance
+ **Explain tax positions clearly** : Especially around complex areas like R&D credits or capitalized expenses under new IRS rules.
+ **Respond to IRS/state correspondence** : Including audits or notices regarding contractor payments, advertising deductions, or multi-state nexus.
+ **Maintain GAAP/tax accounting alignment** : Help reconcile books prepared under GAAP with tax return needs.
+ **Stay current with tax law updates** : Including those specific to digital businesses and tech-forward operations.
**Pay Details:** $75.00 to $90.00 per hour
