Eli Lilly and Company is seeking an experienced Automation Scientist to join our team in Boston, MA.
Come join the rapidly expanding Gene Therapy team at Eli Lilly! We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome editing reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Our team works cross-functionally within our organization across multiple disease areas and platforms. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of gene editing to patients around the world.
Job Responsibilities
+ Partner with interdisciplinary teams of biologists to refine existing processes and develop new protocols that will translate readily to high throughput automated approaches
+ Leverage liquid handler programming experience (Hamilton, Tecan, Biomek, etc.) to develop user friendly and flexible automated protocols that work across many models and delivery modalities
+ Demonstrate excellent automation project documentation practices: define user requirements, utilize version control, design and execute pilot experiments, capture pilot datasets in ELN.
+ Meet required deadlines and communicate in a timely and effective manner to collaborators and stakeholders
+ Be a go-to equipment subject matter expert for biologists relying on high throughput capabilities
+ Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelors and/or Masters in engineering, chemistry, biological or biochemical sciences or a related scientific field with 3+ years relevant industry experience
Additional Skills/Preferences:
+ Significant hands-on tissue culture experience working with a wide variety of cell models
+ Significant cell-based assay development experience: i.e. flow cytometry, cell imaging, potency assays, etc.
+ Deep knowledge of in-vitro delivery approaches: transfections, transductions, electroporations, etc.
+ Hands-on programming experience with Tecan Fluent and / or Echo Access Workstation is a big plus
+ Python scripting skills are a plus
+ Benchling ELN experience is preferred.

+ This role may require up to 10-15% travel for conferences or training.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$70,500 - $183,700
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
