Agricultural package manufacturing machinery company in WA is currently hiring for a Sales Engineer / Business Development Manager. This company is looking to expand their sales territories to the untapped CA, Chicago, IL, and Detroit, MI markets for in-house packaging solutions + packaging machine selling. This role will involve a lot of lead generation and will be a ground-up for new prospects and new clients in those territories.
Pay - $100k/yr. - $130k/yr. (depending on relevant industry experience, technical knowledge, job title, tenure, software...etc.)
*At this time, there is no set commission or bonus structure set with this team, but they're certainly open to exploring that option down the road*
Location - Fully Remote + Travel To Territories in CA, Chicago, IL, and/or Detroit, MI
(Important Information)
+ There are many specialized pieces of equipment already manufactured by this company, but the closure rate on new quotes is very low. The team would like to expand and get the packaging machines focused on agriculture out to other major key markets.
+ The core business for the company is packaging and supply focused on agriculture and more.
+ There are over 500 machines that the team maintains and upkeeps.
+ Still in new development as the machinery sales were initiated 3 years ago.
+ There are machines currently being utilized in CA, TX, NY, and Canada.
+ There will be heavy direct machine sales, but the company is also looking for an innovative and creative negotiator who can sell the add-ons for existing machines that different companies may already have.
+ This position will work very closely with the engineering team, the current sales lead, and the hiring manager.
+ The current CRM is NetSuite and Salesforce. Concur for expenses and travel.
+ KPI is still in development – Will most likely be based on inquiries, site visits, customer visits, pipeline analysis, etc. It will be based on how many customer reach outs and how many quotes, timeframe to close.
+ Employee-owned company with 9 owners in the business. Many owners are in sales roles.
+ Most of day to day duties, when not traveling, will be focused on developing and generating leads. The company does not have an official in-house resource tools or market analysis tools, but is hoping someone with great experience can also bring new ideas and methods to the company.
+ The commission and bonus structure is not officially set, but the company is very invested in adding those in the near future, also depending on how successful this opportunity and business development start to play.
(Responsibilities)
+ Will be responsible for generating leads for untapped territories using 3rd party and outside resources.
+ Engage in the agricultural package manufacturing machinery selling to manufacturing companies and offer solutions for machine add-ons.
+ Travel to untapped territories to establish in-person meetings and sell-over opportunities for the packaging machine sales.
(Qualification Requirements)
+ 2-5 years of experience performing sales and business development.
+ Experience in either machine sales and/or packaging machine sales (preferred) is required.
+ High preference for someone who has technical knowledge of machines (i.e., 4080, 240V, and/or CAD knowledge).
+ Ability to generate leads in new untapped markets.
+ The company currently utilizes NetSuite ERP, Salesforce CRM, and Concur, and is able to coach and train on usage.
+ Ability to comfortably conduct many cold reach-outs for new markets for business development.
+ Ability to travel to new territories as required (CA, IL, MI)
(Disqualifiers)
+ No packaging machinery company experience or machine sales experience.
+ Not comfortable with travel.
+ Not enough technical knowledge.
+ Unable to start employment after 2 weeks of the offer.
+ Unable to communicate effectively with urgency throughout the hiring process.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
