Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description
This Controls Engineer role is ideal for someone with a strong background in automation and control systems design, particularly in industrial environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, and overseeing the implementation of control systems that support automated welding processes.
Responsibilities
+ Design and develop complete control systems for automated welding equipment.
+ Interpret production orders and translate them into functional control system designs.
+ Create and maintain AutoCAD drawings for control panel layouts and wiring diagrams.
+ Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs using ladder logic.
+ Configure and fine-tune Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for speed control.
+ Ensure proper communication between PLCs and pneumatic systems for accurate output control.
+ Develop reusable programming templates to streamline future projects.
+ Conduct system testing and validation to ensure performance meets design specifications.
+ Oversee installation and commissioning of control systems, providing spot checks and guidance as needed.
+ Maintain detailed documentation of control logic, system architecture, and programming standards.
+ Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance during and after system deployment.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD for control system layout and documentation.
+ Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic programming.
+ Familiarity with basic automation principles, including VFDs and pneumatic control.
+ Strong understanding of industrial control system design and integration.
+ Ability to read and interpret production orders and translate them into control strategies.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience creating standardized programming templates.
+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
+ Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Work Environment
The position offers exposure to a manufacturing environment within a 20-person company, with team members who are eager to train and support each other. There is a requirement for travel approximately 10% of the time, likely two weeks every six months. Occasionally, longer travel periods may occur, but arrangements will be made to ensure employees return home periodically.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $58.00/hr.
