Job Title: Mechanical DrafterJob Description
The Mechanical Drafter will work closely with the project design team to create a comprehensive 3D digital mockup of the engineering product. The role involves coordinating the sharing of the digital mockup with internal and external stakeholders, performing clash checks, and ensuring model integrity and quality.
Responsibilities
+ Provide ownership and responsibility for the DMU definition.
+ Participate in discussions with customers on Data Exchange Agreements, review, and approve updates.
+ Interface with partners and customers, attend meetings to address requests and issues.
+ Check and validate the CAD model quality for DMU packaging.
+ Participate in IPT & CCB meetings, support engineering changes, review and approve DMU tasks in DWB routes.
+ Provide timely support for engineering changes related to DMU.
+ Offer customer support, troubleshooting, and training for DMU content and processes.
+ Collaborate with Engineering Support and IT teams to maintain DMU processes and automations.
+ Operate process automations for engineering data and processes, as well as data transfer.
+ Perform CAD conversions between various CAD systems and CATIA V5.
+ Conduct training activities for new functionalities and processes.
+ Document issues or enhancement requests, work with IT development teams for implementation.
+ Troubleshoot DMU/DPA processes, design and document productivity enhancements.
+ Submit DMU/DPA to customers/partners following program agreements and schedules.
+ Document and execute process automation scripts/macros.
+ Identify and document issues, ensure completeness of DMU definition.
+ Model standard parts in 3D CATIA V5 as per MRAS Business Processes.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in CATIA V5 with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience.
+ At least 3 years of experience as a DMU engineer.
+ Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools, preferably ENOVIA.
+ Prior engineering experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or comparable industries.
+ Technical expertise in digital mockups and data management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 1-5 years of experience in Engineering, Drafting, or similar major.
+ An additional 3 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
+ Experience owning technical business processes, including coordinating updates.
+ Knowledge of GD&T symbols and requirements.
+ Ability to assess issues under pressure and collaborate with team members.
+ Strong technical writing skills for clear and concise documentation.
+ Effective oral and written communication skills.
+ Strong work ethic with flexibility for occasional late-night or weekend support.
+ Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Work Environment
Our client is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of Nacelles and Thrust Reversers for the Aircraft/Aerospace industry. They support major industry players such as Boeing, Safran, GE Aviation, and Airbus. The position is based in one of the largest manufacturing facilities in Maryland, located right by the water.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
