Job Title: Pharmacist

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting orders, accurately compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals, and monitoring drug therapy regimens within an ER setting. You will provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients, and effectively interact with medical staff regarding drug therapy issues. Additionally, you will document all clinical activities and interventions, sustain the hospital formulary, and supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff.

Responsibilities

+ Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently in the pharmacy computer system.

+ Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals.

+ Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.

+ Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients.

+ Effectively and proactively interact with medical staff regarding drug therapy issues.

+ Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely.

+ Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges, and other approved formulary protocols.

+ Supervise and assist pharmacy technicians and other support staff effectively.

+ Train and participate with Disaster Team drills and real-event response as assigned.

+ Prioritize work and lead others to comply with facility medication turn-around time policy and procedure, identifying areas for improved efficiency.

+ Actively participate in staff meetings and attend staff development in pharmaceutical care.

+ Support in the training and mentorship of new staff members as assigned.

+ Serve as preceptor for pharmacy students and/or residents.

+ Support and participate in the organization's quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety programs.

+ Maintain professional competency to meet current and future facility needs.

+ Maintain appropriate controlled substance records.

+ Comply with all regulatory standards.

+ Make appropriate evidence-based, patient-centered medication recommendations.

+ Participate in the management of medical emergencies, including Code Blue situations.

+ Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners.

+ Suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed.

+ Work with the Pharmacy Director or Operations Manager to identify and develop processes to meet or exceed regulatory standards and participate in quality and regulatory reviews and audits.

Essential Skills

+ Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.

+ Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.

+ Experience in an ER as a Pharmacist through a pharmacy residency program, PGY1 with any specialization.

+ BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

+ ACLS certification required for attending Code Blue situations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy.

+ 1 year of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience.

+ 1 year of experience working in an ER as a Pharmacist.

Work Environment

This role operates in a full-service 180-bed hospital providing a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services using state-of-the-art technology in a friendly community setting. The preferred shift is from 10am to 6:30pm, with potential flexibility to adjust hours from 8am to 4:30pm or 9am to 5:30pm. This position requires working mid-day shifts and every other weekend. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
