As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and specification of advanced building automation systems, including controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware. You will create sequences of operation for controlling building systems and document these designs meticulously. This role involves mentoring other engineers, ensuring adherence to project requirements and standards, and providing technical support to sales representatives. You will also support functional testing for complex building systems and contribute to the identification and communication of project opportunities and risks.
Responsibilities
+ Design advanced building automation systems, specifying controllers, sensors, and networks.
+ Create sequences of operation for building systems and document designs.
+ Mentor and guide other Controls Engineers.
+ Adhere to project requirements and design standards.
+ Provide technical support to sales teams to meet customer needs.
+ Support functional testing for complex systems.
+ Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks.
+ Create and manage requests for information (RFIs).
+ Maintain and advise on design and programming standards.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience in engineering or HVAC controls.
+ Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical building systems.
+ Ability to design and program complex projects.
+ Proficient with building automation system software and engineering tools.
+ Advanced knowledge of Automated Logic software and hardware.
+ Proficient in communication protocols like BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON.
+ Knowledge of Enterprise IP networks and Microsoft Visio.
+ Experience in writing sequences of operations and translating technical information.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Strong problem-solving skills and remote troubleshooting capabilities.
+ Excellent time management and task estimation skills.
+ Competency with Microsoft software, including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Work Environment
This role offers in-house engineering with potential growth into field roles. Work hours are typically from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Engineers will manage multiple projects, ranging from small to large scales, primarily in the NY/NJ area, focusing on construction projects like high-rise buildings, schools, and data center retrofits. Travel may be required within a two-hour radius, with most projects in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $45.00/hr.
